    Abstract: An elastomer coated bias fabric for reinforcing power transmission belts and the like is disclosed wherein one surface of the fabric is provided with an uncured, tacky, elastomeric composition. The fabric is prepared by pre-impregnating the fabric, transversely stretching the fabric on a tenter frame, coating a latex composition on both surfaces of the fabric while maintaining the fabric in its transversely stretched condition, and after drying the fabric, overcoating one surface only of the coated fabric with a tackified, latex composition which may contain a chemical linking agent which enhances the bond between the elastomer and the fabric by forming a chemical bridge between them. A method for manufacturing coated fabric is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A tool used for removal and installation of a fluid coupling retaining pin. The tool consists of long, narrow handle terminating in a body having a flat upper surface and an arcuately curved lower surface, one end of the upper surface being notched to fit under the loop of the retaining pin. The curved lower surface fits against the coupling, acting as a fulcrum for pulling the pin out of its groove. The tool also has sufficient mass so that it may be used to drive the pin into its groove as well.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a plastic abrasion resistant protective sleeve for covering a radiator hose. The sleeve of the invention has a corrugated external surface comprising a plurality of projections and troughs formed in said sleeve. The projections are substantially evenly distributed and have a substantially uniform size. The sleeve has a slit along its longitudinal axis which provides for easy application to or removal from the hose, and is made of plastic that is substantially unaffected by high temperatures. A method of using said protective sleeve for protecting a radiator hose from abrasion also is provided.

The belt structure has a tension section and a compression section which are of similar construction and each is comprised of a plurality of layers including a fiber-loaded layer disposed adjacent the load-carrying section and a fabric layer disposed remote from the load-carrying section; and, the fabric layers and fiber-loaded layers cooperate to assure that the belt structure has longitudinal flexibility yet has transverse rigidity or stiffness sufficient to enable the belt structure to be operated in associated sheaves free of shear planes parallel to the load-carrying section.
