Patent number: 11123675Abstract: A filtering media member is formed of porous material. A first edge portion includes an upstream edge. A second edge portion is spaced apart from the first edge portion and includes a downstream edge. A main portion is arranged intermediate the first and second edge portions. The edge portions and the main portion together define a generally planar first surface. A plurality of channels is formed on the first surface. Each of the channels is arranged adjacent to one another and has a length. Each of the channels includes an inlet disposed proximate to the first edge portion so that, in use, fluid flows from the upstream edge through the inlet to the respective channel, and each of the channels has a width in the lateral direction that decreases across its length so that the channels taper between the first and second edge portions.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2017Date of Patent: September 21, 2021Assignee: DCL International Inc.Inventors: Zbigniew Sarna, Haiqing Liu, John P. Patent number: 9784162Abstract: A silencer and catalytic converter apparatus includes a housing and a frame assembly arranged in the housing. The frame assembly may receive at least one catalyst panel and support the catalyst panel to occupy an area of a flow passage between upstream and downstream chamber sections of the housing. A blocking panel may be supported by the frame assembly to obstruct a remaining area of the flow passage so that fluid flowing between the upstream and downstream chamber sections is directed to flow through the catalyst panel. The blocking panel may be adjustable to accommodate catalyst panels of different sizes.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2016Date of Patent: October 10, 2017Assignee: DCL INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: Haiqing Liu, John P. Patent number: 9101905Abstract: A catalytic converter apparatus includes a housing having an inlet port, an outlet port, a chamber, an access opening, and an interior sealing surface generally encompassing a periphery of one of the inlet and outlet ports in the chamber. A substrate assembly is insertable into the chamber and removable from the chamber through the access opening, and includes a catalyst matrix for treating fluid. A positioning mechanism removably supports the substrate assembly within the chamber so that movement of the substrate assembly in a lateral direction generally parallel to the interior sealing surface moves the substrate assembly in an axial direction generally perpendicular to the interior sealing surface. The positioning mechanism may guide the substrate assembly in the axial direction into sealing engagement with the one of the inlet and outlet ports to provide a fluid flow path through the catalyst matrix between the inlet and outlet ports.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2014Date of Patent: August 11, 2015Assignee: DCL International Inc.Inventors: John P. Patent number: 8702830Abstract: A filtering apparatus having a plurality of passages made up of juxtaposed longitudinally extending channels. The passages are axially divided by a porous filtering media extending across the channels whereby the channels fluidly communicate through the porous filtering media. A pressure differential is created across the filtering media by restricting flow through an end of each channel, with each restriction being at an opposite end from that of the other channel. As flow restriction rather than outright blocking is used, some flow is possible along each passage directly along the channels even if the channels lose the ability to fluidly communicate through clogging of the filtering media.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2005Date of Patent: April 22, 2014Assignee: DCL International Inc.Inventor: John Muter

Patent number: 7655194Abstract: A catalyst substrate support is provided for a corrugated foil honeycomb matrix defining a plurality of passages extending therethrough which are generally parallel to an axis. A peripheral mantle extends about an outer perimeter of the matrix and has inwardly extending flanges which extend across an outer periphery of the opposite end faces to cover outermost of the passages and restrict fluid flow between the peripheral mantle and the matrix. The outer perimeter of the matrix and the peripheral mantle may be spaced apart to define a gap for accommodating differential thermal expansions of the matrix and the peripheral mantle, the gap being smaller than a height of the inwardly extending flanges. Cross members secured to each of the opposite end faces of the matrix may transfer at least part of the gravitational load of the matrix to the mantle.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2005Date of Patent: February 2, 2010Assignee: DCL International Inc.Inventor: John P.
