Abstract: A card reader for data exchange uses a chip card inserted into a card reader housing up to a data exchange position having an electrical contact arranged fixedly in the card reader housing or displaceably in the card insertion direction. In the data exchange position, projecting into the card path of the inserted chip card by way of a contact area, includes a detector device. In the case of a contact fixedly arranged in the card reader housing, the detector device is directed at the contact face of the contact or at the region around said contact face or which, in the case of a contact that is displaceably arranged in the card reader housing in the card insertion direction, is directed at the position in the card reader at which the contact face is located in the data exchange position, or is directed at the region around this position.

Abstract: A card reader for interchanging data with a chip card includes a card insertion opening, a contact-making unit for interchanging data with a chip card which is inserted into the card reader through the card insertion opening, and a protective hood which covers the contact-making unit except for the card insertion opening. The protective hood is formed from two sheet-metal hoods which are stacked one in the other and an anti-drilling foil which is arranged between the said sheet-metal hoods and has an area-covering anti-drilling conductor track structure. The two sheet-metal hoods and the anti-drilling foil are adhesively bonded to one another over their full surface area to form a composite cover.

Abstract: A card reader includes a card reader housing with a card insertion opening, a contact unit, which is arranged in the card reader housing, and a hood which covers the contact unit, apart from the card insertion opening. The hood is back-molded on the inner side with an at least two-layered conductor track foil. The first layer, which faces the hood, has an extensive drill-protection conductor track structure with at least one continuous drill-protection conductor track. The second layer, which faces away from the hood, has a lift-off protection conductor track structure with at least one lift-off-protection conductor track. The at least one drill-protection conductor track is routed onto the second layer by means of through connections of the conductor track foil and ends in electrical connection contacts of the second layer. The at least one lift-off-protection conductor track ends in electrical connection contacts of the second layer.

Abstract: In a magnetic read and/or write head (1) for exchanging signals with a magnetic data medium (2), according to the invention a protective diamond foil (10) is fixed, in particular adhered, to a housing wall (3) on which the magnetic data medium (2) is guided in a sliding manner in order to protect the housing wall (3) against abrasion wear and thereby to increase the life of the magnetic read and/or write head (1).

Abstract: In accordance with the invention, in a card reader comprising a pivot arm that engages behind an inserted card, a locking element that can be displaced in the insertion direction of the card and, in a locking position, blocks a pivoting motion of the pivot arm out of the engaging pivot position, a toothed wheel which is driven by a pinion and on which the locking element eccentrically engages, and at least one stop face that cooperates with the card reader for limiting the rotation of the toothed wheel, the at least one stop face is provided on the pinion.

Abstract: A card reader comprises two rows of electric contacts in the form of elastically deformable contact springs for contacting the electric contact fields of a card inserted into the card reader, wherein the contact springs extend parallel to the card insertion direction and wherein each contact spring comprises a contact section projecting into the card path for contacting one of the contact fields of the card, a connecting section for connecting to a write/read device, an intermediate U-shaped joining section, and a mounting section for mounting the contact spring to the card reader housing, all being formed in one piece with the contact spring. In accordance with the invention, the contact section, the U-shaped joining section and the mounting section are symmetrical relative to the center plane of the contact spring.

Abstract: In a card reader comprising a card stop 4 for a card 2 inserted into the card reader, the card stop 4 is rotatable out of the card path about an axis of rotation 6 extending transverse to the card path, and is rotatably coupled to an arm 9 which is deflectable about an axis of rotation 8 extending transverse to the card path and is pretensioned into a pivoting position engaging in the card path in the card inserting direction 3 behind the card stop 4. Insertion of a card deflects the arm against the action of a restoring force from the card path thereby also turning the card stop out of the card path. If a card of insufficient length is stuck in the card reader, it is pushed further by the inserted card and passes the deflected, i.e. effectless, card stop and is discharged from the card reader.
