    Abstract: A valve in a pipeline is automatically configured to close the flow through the pipeline in the event of a pipeline rupture or similar event. During normal flow, a valve element is maintained in an open position. However, in the event of a rupture, the resulting pressure drop across the valve is sensed and causes the valve element to move to a closed position.
