Patent number: 9330803Abstract: A radiation therapy apparatus includes a housing, a radiation source carried by the housing, and at least one aperture assembly carried by the housing. The aperture assembly includes a radiation aperture body having a shaped opening therein to control a radiation dosing profile, and an aperture holder with an aperture-receiving passageway therein receiving the radiation aperture body, and having a recessed end. A cover is received within the recessed end of the aperture holder and retains the radiation aperture body within the aperture holder. The cover has an opening aligned with the shaped opening in the radiation aperture body. The radiation aperture body, the aperture receiving passageway of the aperture holder and the opening of the cover have angled interfaces therebetween. A radiation filter is carried by the housing.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2014Date of Patent: May 3, 2016Assignee: .DECIMAL, INC.Inventors: Richard L. Sweat, Kevin Erhart, Salvadore Gerace

Patent number: 8185228Abstract: Automating the process for providing a radiation filter is based on different software programs executed by a computer system. The software programs include customer interface software, tool path generation software and manufacture scheduling software. The customer interface software imports into a database a customer file for the radiation filter, and each of the different software programs set a flag in the database upon completion of their task. Tracking software tracks progress on manufacture of the radiation filter based on the different corresponding flags set in the database. The customer file is provided by a customer, and the customer remotely accesses the database to view progress on the manufacture of the radiation filter.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2009Date of Patent: May 22, 2012Assignee: .Decimal, Inc.Inventor: Richard L. Patent number: 8155773Abstract: Automating the process for providing a radiation filter is based on different software programs executed by a computer system. The software programs include customer interface software, tool path generation software and manufacture scheduling software. Each software program performs a specific function for automating the process. The manufacture scheduling software determines available tooling machines to manufacture the radiation filter based on the generated tool path from a plurality of tooling machines, and selects one of the available tooling machines based on availability for manufacture of the radiation filter. The manufactured radiation filter is shipped, and the customer is then invoiced for the order.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2009Date of Patent: April 10, 2012Assignee: .Decimal, Inc.Inventor: Richard L. Patent number: 8121253Abstract: A method for making a beam modifier to be used in radiation therapy includes defining a region of interest in a patient that is to receive radiation, with the region of interest being defined using an anatomy coordinate system format. Radiation treatment parameters are defined for the defined region of interest, and correspond to an initial type beam modifier to be coupled to an output of a radiation device. Design data on a beam modifier to be placed on the skin of the patient is generated, with the design data being based on the defined region of interest and the defined radiation treatment parameters for the defined region of interest. The design data is in the same anatomy coordinate system format as the defined region of interest that is to receive the radiation. The design data is treated as a new region of interest, and the radiation dosage to be applied to the new region of interest is re-calculated while taking into account the beam modifier to be placed on the skin of the patient.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2010Date of Patent: February 21, 2012Assignee: .Decimal, Inc.Inventor: Benjamin E. Patent number: 6980871Abstract: A method for providing a radiation filter for a radiation treatment machine includes receiving via e-mail design data for the radiation filter, and comparing the received design data to a radiation filter blank database for selecting a radiation filter blank compatible with the radiation treatment machine from a plurality of radiation filter blanks. The method further includes defining tooling instructions for the selected radiation filter blank, and programming a tooling machine based upon the defined tooling instructions. The programmed tooling machine is operated for machining the selected radiation filter blank into the radiation filter.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2004Date of Patent: December 27, 2005Assignee: .decimal, Inc.Inventor: Richard L.
