Patent number: 8474200Abstract: A suspended ceiling system has a series of nodes interconnected by grid members to define a grid network. Each node includes a connection plate having a central port area that is adapted to form a recessed part of the finished surface of the ceiling system that is visible between adjacent suspended ceiling panels that conceal the grid members. The connection plate preferably includes grid member connecting arms extending outwardly from the connection plate. The central port area includes a cavity adapted for different purposes. This cavity can receive ceiling components, for example various light fixtures, securing devices or a removable access panel that covers the central port area.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2011Date of Patent: July 2, 2013Assignee: Decoustics LimitedInventors: Martin Daniel Gerkes, Heikki Kolga, Ronald White

Publication number: 20120023853Abstract: A ceiling panel clip with improved characteristics includes a torsion spring retaining loop that has a free end captured beneath a frame member of the ceiling panel. The retaining loop at one end thereof is integral with a base portion of the clip and the free end extends downwardly to the base portion. The base portion and retaining loop preferably cooperate to capture a coiled portion of a torsion spring used to suspend the ceiling panel. Preferably, securing legs of the torsion spring are biased inwardly to allow the coiled portion to be inserted on the retaining loop. Release of the securing legs captures the coiled portion on the clip.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 18, 2011Publication date: February 2, 2012Applicant: DECOUSTICS LIMITEDInventors: Martin Daniel Gerkes, Heikki Kolga, Ronald White

Publication number: 20110308185Abstract: A ceiling panel uses a perimeter frame with a wide outwardly extending bottom flange defining a thin panel edge. Preferably the bottom flange includes a lower surface for securing of a finished substrate about the panel perimeter. The upper surface of the bottom flange receives a gusset clip that includes two arms for securement of the bottom flange and an upwardly extending lift and shift securing tab. The upwardly extending lift and shift securing tab is preferably located within a depth of the ceiling panel generally defined by an acoustical dampening material located within the perimeter frame.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2011Publication date: December 22, 2011Applicant: DECOUSTICS LIMITEDInventors: Martin Daniel Gerkes, Heikki Kolga, Ronald White

Patent number: 8079192Abstract: A suspended ceiling system uses a grid system having series of intermediate nodes interior to a peripheral edge of the ceiling system and a series of edge nodes at an edge of the grid system. Each intermediate node is defined by a connection plate having a series of guide tracks for receiving and cooperating with an upper edge of the ceiling grid members to align the grid members in a predetermined geometric configuration. Mechanical fasteners secure the connection plate and the ceiling grid members in any of the guide tracks. Each connection plate between adjacent guide tracks includes generally opposed connection slots for receiving support springs suspending ceiling panels beneath the grid system. The connection plate simplifies installation and avoids incorrect placement of the grid members. Preferably the grid system includes at least five grid members equally spaced about a center point of the connection plate.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2010Date of Patent: December 20, 2011Assignee: Decoustics LimitedInventors: Martin Daniel Gerkes, Heikki Kolga, Ronald White

Patent number: 7926237Abstract: A wall or ceiling panel secures a grid insert, preferably of an architectural metal mesh, within a frame using a series of spring clips. The spring clips engage the metal mesh and are retained in a securing slot provided at an interior edge of the panel frame. Each spring clip includes at least one engagement member that passes through and engages the grid insert. The spring also includes a securing base that is received and retained within the securing slot of the frame. The panel can also include a securing arrangement for supporting the grid member at a position spaced from the frame to avoid downward bowing of the metal mesh.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2007Date of Patent: April 19, 2011Assignee: Decoustics LimitedInventors: Martin Daniel Gerkes, Heikki Kolga, Ronald White

Patent number: 5535566Abstract: A concealed suspension ceiling system advantageously uses a `T` bar grid network used for lay-in ceiling panels. Saddle clips are secured to upper beads of the `T` bar grid network allowing torsioning springs to releasably maintain the panels suspended beneath the grid. The system can be used for entirely new installations or used in a retrofit application.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1995Date of Patent: July 16, 1996Assignee: Decoustics LimitedInventors: Wm. S. Patent number: 4907637Abstract: A fabric mounting system for securing a fabric or other flexible sheet material to provide a facing and/or partition is disclosed. A support or mounting member is first secured on an existing wall, ceiling or other location. Fabric engaging strips, having slots therein, receive a fold of fabric within the slot and the fabric is wrapped about the strips to cover the strip and position the raw edge of fabric interior to the periphery of the system. Each strip is then brought into engagement with a mounting member such that a portion of the mounting member is inserted in the slot to lock the strip and fabric in place, preferably due to an interference fit.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1986Date of Patent: March 13, 1990Assignee: Decoustics LimitedInventor: R. Patent number: 4548010Abstract: An improved ceiling panel for use in concealed suspension is disclosed which includes framing a panel body member on the sides and rear face thereof in a manner that the lower surface of the panel is determined by the metal framing members. These members are preferrably extruded aluminum and hence the accuracy thereof and hence the accuracy of the lower surface of the panel can be maintained in a closer tolerance range. In addition the framing members include an inwardly directed flange which preferrably is held by an adhesive within an appropriately located kerfed recess in the edge of the body member. This structure serves to stiffen the panel and reduce deflection thereby providing a ceiling system of substantially improved quality. Height variations in ceiling systems are easily recognized and the present disclosure teaches a system of high quality while providing a system which is easy to install and has the advantages of ready access to the area above the ceiling.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1983Date of Patent: October 22, 1985Assignee: Decoustics LimitedInventor: Roy A. Patent number: 4438613Abstract: According to the present invention, a new suspended ceiling system is possible of the type having a plurality of removable panels which are supported below a grid network. The grid network comprises structural elements interconnected by junction members with the cells of the grid network sized to receive a panel about the periphery thereof. These structural members cooperate with framed panel members to accurately align adjacent panels and position them at a certain height below the grid network. Access to the area above the panels is easily obtained by removal of any of the panel members. Each panel is urged into abutting contact with the grid network to provide a seal therewith such that the area above the ceiling may be used as a return air plenum. The particular frame member for the panels facilitates mechanical connection about and to the body member of the panel and also simplifies removal of the panel.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1981Date of Patent: March 27, 1984Assignee: Decoustics LimitedInventors: Roy A.
