Abstract: A solar roof panel assembly for new construction or retrofit installation above a roof deck of a building structure comprises a metal roof panel base, at least one solar cell, a stone coating, and an electrical junction box fastened to the back of the metal roof panel base. The electrical junction box houses electrical components connected to the solar cell, and electrical connection elements extend from the electrical junction box. The solar roof panel assembly may be installed such that an air gap is created between the solar roof panel assembly and the roof deck, and cabling and other electrical components may be placed in the air gap. Multiple solar roof panel assemblies may be interconnected. A solar roof panel assembly may replace a previously-installed roof panel, and may be aesthetically and/or structurally similar to adjacent previously-installed roof panels.
