Publication number: 20240292794Abstract: The present disclosure describes a an integrated tree watering and support system. In particular, the disclosed tree watering system can include a fill tube and a configuration of water storage units. The system can better promote hydration and aeration of tree roots, allow for versatile watering conditions, and provide stability and support to the tree. The fill tube can receive rainwater, hose water, or even water from alternative irrigation systems and can cater to varying environmental conditions. The water storage unit can deliver water and air directly to the root ball of the tree, enabling increased root health and growth. Moreover, by placing the root ball of the tree on top of the water storage unit, stability and support are provided to the tree, which can prevent subsidence and enhance overall tree stability.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2024Publication date: September 5, 2024Applicant: DeepRoot Green Infrastructure, LLCInventors: Charles Graham Ray, Patrick Brien Greeley, Jeffrey Shawn Freedberg, John Joseph Cogger

Patent number: 11761152Abstract: Soil form structure for supporting hardscape and corresponding vehicle, pedestrian traffic, and other loads while maintaining uncompacted or loosely compacted soil underneath. A number of cell structures may be coupled to each other, where each cell has a strong yet lightweight and open structure that can accept uncompacted soil, vegetation roots, utilities, and the like within at least approximately 85-90% of its volume, while also allowing hardscape to be poured or formed thereon. Thus, cell structures allow for hardscape to be integrally formed with the cell structures, without need for an underlying layer of highly compacted soil or other hardscape support.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2020Date of Patent: September 19, 2023Assignee: DeepRoot Green Infrastructure, LLCInventors: Charles Graham Ray, Jeffrey Shawn Freedberg, John Joseph Cogger, Patrick Brien Greeley

Patent number: 9775303Abstract: A structural cell system for supporting hardscape, allowing tree root growth, and managing stormwater underneath the hardscape. The system may include: a base having a plurality of receptacles and a plurality of support members interconnecting the receptacles; a plurality of legs each sized and shaped to be attachable to the base within one of the receptacles so as to extend from the base, and to be attachable to another of the legs so that pairs of legs attached to each other collectively extend from the base; and a top attachable to the legs. Outer edges of the base, the top, and the legs attached thereto define a volume, and are configured to support at least that portion of the hardscape overlying the top as well as a commercial vehicle traffic load thereon, while maintaining soil in a substantially uncompacted state throughout at least approximately ninety percent of the volume.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2015Date of Patent: October 3, 2017Assignee: DeepRoot Green Infrastructure, LLCInventors: Charles Julian Ray, Charles Graham Ray, John Cogger, James Urban

Patent number: 9085886Abstract: A structural cell system is disclosed for supporting hardscape areas in a way that enables tree root growth and accommodates filtering, retention, storage and infiltration of storm water while preventing hardscape damage. The system includes a plurality of structural cells capable of being positioned below a hardscape. The structural cells are designed to have openings that are sized to accept tree roots. The system has one or more permeable barriers around the structural cells with a way for water to flow into the plurality of structural cells flow out of the structural cells.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2006Date of Patent: July 21, 2015Assignee: DeepRoot Green Infrastructure, LLCInventors: James Urban, Albert L.
