Abstract: A towed implement for operation on roads and off-road. Known towed implements in agriculture have, e.g., pressurized air brakes which enable them to be effectively braked, particularly during travel on roads, without causing skidding of the towing tractor. However when such brakes are used off-road it is regarded as a drawback that, e.g., they cause damage to turf. As a solution to the problem of overly vigorous braking during off-road operation, a towed implement is proposed wherein the braking force is controlled so as to be of a greater magnitude during on-road operation than it is for off-road operation. For this purpose, a sensor is provided for sensing the operating condition of a component which provides a signal indicative of whether or not the implement is operating off-road or on-road, with the signal being used to control the amount of force used for braking the implement.

Abstract: A drive system for vehicles, especially for commercial vehicles such as agricultural or industrial tractors, the vehicle having at least one first wheel that is driven by an associated axle or single-wheel drive motor and at least one second wheel, in the drive train of which a gearbox that can be shifted between at least two speed transmission steps is arranged. To avoid vehicle speed drops while shifting the change-speed gearbox and to avoid interfering shifting jolts, it is suggested to provide a device for the detection of a shift command and a control unit, which in the presence of a shift command automatically applies a greater load at least on the drive motor driving the first wheel, controls the shifting operation of the change-speed gearbox of the second wheel and then lowers the load of the drive motor driving the first wheel.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a drive arrangement for the drive of attached implements for a vehicle, particularly an agricultural or industrial utility vehicle, with a combination gearbox, an electrical machine and a power take-off shaft, where a gearbox interface of the combination gearbox can be driven by an internal combustion engine and where the electrical machine is connected with a second gearbox interface of the combination gearbox. In order to make available a variable power take-off shaft rotational speed that is independent of the rotational speed of the internal combustion engine, the drive arrangement according to the invention is characterized by the fact that the power take-off shaft is connected with a third gearbox interface of the combination gearbox. Furthermore the present invention concerns a vehicle with such a drive arrangement.

Abstract: A crop chopping arrangement for a forage harvester includes a shearbar mounted adjacent a path swept by chopping knives of a chopper drum and being selectively adjustable toward and away from said path so as to adjust the distance between the shearbar and knives as they pass by the shearbar. An arrangement for measuring and/or checking the distance between the shearbar and the knives includes a vibration sensor located to measure the mechanical vibrations in the shearbar produced by the moving knives, and an electronic evaluation circuit. The evaluation circuit is operable for performing a frequency analysis of the signal provided by the vibration sensor so as to derive information indicative of the distance between the shearbar and knives.

Abstract: A hydraulic function can be extended and retracted under the control of an electrohydraulic valve unit. An operator movable command lever is movable into extend, center and retract region. A sensor generates a lever position signal. An electronic lever command unit receives the lever position signal and generates a valve command signal. An electronic valve control unit is remote from and communicated with the lever command unit. The electronic valve control unit controls communication of hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic function in response to the valve command signal. A method of generating the valve command signal includes generating a command signal which is proportional to the lever position signal when the lever is moved relatively slowly, and generating a command signal which is based on a maximum excursion of the lever into the extend and retract regions when the lever is moved relatively rapidly.

Abstract: A boom for a telescopic loader, is described. It is proposed that the boom be configured with a carrier arrangement having one end fastened to a frame of the loader vehicle, free to pivot, and having a second free end defined by an attaching flange. A front piece includes a mating flange configured complementary to the attaching flange and releasably secured to it. The front piece is used to engage a tool. To enlarge this modular configuration, an extension carrier is provided that includes a further mating flange and a further attaching flange. By inserting the extension carrier between the front piece and the carrier arrangement, the boom can be extended to conform to special operating requirements. Furthermore, the modular configuration permits a more flexible configuration of the carrier arrangement and the front piece and has a more favorable effect regarding manufacture, handling and transport of the carrier arrangement and the front piece.

Abstract: A two piece molded roof structure is provided for enclosing the cab of a work vehicle. The roof structure has an upper roof member mounted to a lower roof member. The lower roof member has a plurality of contours and apertures for receiving the components of an HVAC system, and for defining air passages. When the upper and lower roof members are joined discrete air passages are formed between the roof members. The roof structure includes fresh and recirculated air intakes communicating via an uncirculated air duct and with an HVAC core chamber housing an HVAC core. Filters are mounted in the air intakes. One or more blowers communicate between the core chamber and a conditioned air duct which has vents communicating with the cab interior. Air is thus drawn in through the intakes and directed through the unconditioned air duct to the HVAC core and then the blower expels the air into the conditioned air duct and into the vehicle cab.

Abstract: A three-point hitch suitable for operation with wide implements is constructed by substituting a pair of flotation actuators for the usual drop links that are normally coupled between a pair of rocker arms and a pair of lower draft links. These drop links are coupled to a hydraulic circuit including, according to one embodiment, individual accumulators for each flotation actuator, and according to a second embodiment, both actuators are coupled to a single accumulator. The accumulator(s) act to cause a pre-selected lifting force to be exerted by the flotation actuators so that a predetermined amount of the weight of an implement mounted to the draft links is counterbalanced, leaving a desired ground pressure being exerted by the implement during operation. When using individual accumulators, a side-to-side weight balance can be achieved since different accumulator settings may be used.

Abstract: A self-propelled forage harvester includes front and rear sets of driven ground wheels. The front set of wheels is driven through a transmission including an input shaft driven by a variable displacement motor and coupled to the front set of wheels by a gear train including one planetary gear set, (in one embodiment), and two planetary gear sets, (in a second embodiment). In both cases, the transmission is shiftable so as to establish at least first and second gear ratios. The shifting of the transmission is accomplished automatically by a control arrangement which takes into account the operating mode of the harvester so that a ratio for producing the correct velocity range for harvesting is established when the harvester is in a working operating mode, and a higher velocity range is established when the harvester is in a transport operating mode. Other operating parameters are sensed and used to automatically control hydraulic pump and/or motor displacement, and for controlling engine speed.
