Abstract: A vehicle having a tire pressure adjusting device for regulating the pressure of tires which has a valve arrangement between a compressed air source and the tires is described. To reduce the energy expenditure required for filling the tires and to be able to keep the filling pressure as low as possible, the turbocharger of the vehicle engine serves as the compressed air source. The charge air channel of the turbocharger is connected with the valve arrangement.

Abstract: A engine having a timing gear cover with integrally formed coolant inlet and discharge fittings for connection to a radiator. The cover forms a water pump inlet chamber and a water pump outlet chamber defined by the walls of the cover and the front face of the engine block. The lower pressure water pump inlet chamber separates the higher pressure water pump outlet chamber from a timing gear chamber to prevent coolant leakage from the water pump inlet chamber into the timing gear chamber where the lubricating oil will be contaminated. The water pump housing also includes a drain fitting for draining coolant from the engine.

  • Publication number: 20020073678
Abstract: A baling chamber for a large round baler includes a discharge gate having opposite side walls which meet respective side walls of the main frame along a line of separation that inclines downwardly and to the rear from top to bottom. The bottom of the baling chamber is defined in part by a bottom conveyor which slopes downward to the rear from a front end which delimits a lower side of an inlet through which crop is fed into the baling chamber. The discharge gate carries a lower front roll that supports an endless tension element arrangement and that is itself supported on a tensioning arm arrangement that pivoted to the discharge gate for movement against the resistance of a yieldable spring arrangement so as to permit the lower front roll to move rearwardly from a first position adjacent the inlet, which it occupies at the beginning of bale formation, as the bale grows.

Abstract: A self-propelled forage harvester is equipped with a crop gathering device which transports crop material from the ground to feed rolls that position the crop for being chopped into small pieces by a chopper drum. To prevent pieces of crop material from accumulating on top of the housing structure for the feed rolls and the chopper drum, a flexible shield is mounted between the bottom of the operator's cab and the top of the crop gathering device. Various embodiments are disclosed which feature different access elements of the shield which may be quickly opened to provide access to the feed rolls, chopper drum and other functioning elements provided for processing the crop.

  • Publication number: 20020069723
Abstract: A hydrostatic unit is mounted in a transmission housing by a plurality of mounting pins supporting and positioning the hydrostatic unit in the transmission housing. The pins each have a stud portion projecting into a bore in the case of the hydrostatic unit. An externally threaded portion of the pin is threaded into a bore in the transmission housing to mount the pin to the transmission housing. A flange on the pin extends radially outward to overlie and engage the transmission housing surrounding the bore to limit the extent to which the pin is threaded into the transmission housing with the stud projecting into the interior of the transmission housing. Each stud is thus positioned relative to the transmission housing whereby the hydrostatic unit is supported and positioned within the transmission housing. A resilient bushing surrounding the stud serves to isolate the hydrostatic unit from the transmission housing to reduce sound and vibrations transmitted to the transmission housing.

  • Publication number: 20020050699
Abstract: A towed implement is provided with ground support wheels mounted to its chassis by trailing wheel support arms and respective suspensions including lift cylinders with which are associated damping devices that operate in such a way as to prevent damage to a respective cylinder from rebounding forces resulting when the suspension is being returned to its operating position by the release of energy stored in spring arrangements of the suspension after being loaded by an obstacle engaging the associated wheel. In one embodiment, the spring arrangement includes a damping spring located between an end of the associated cylinder and piston, and in another embodiment, the spring arrangement includes a gas pressure reservoir which, by virtue the operation of a reversing link in the suspension, is loaded both when the wheel is caused to move in a first direction by engaging an obstacle, and when the wheel is moved in the opposite direction by the airborne wheel once past the obstacle.

  • Publication number: 20020040702
Abstract: A system and method for sensing and evaluating the rotation of the auxiliary drive of a utility vehicle is provided. The utility vehicle includes a main drive engine, a gearbox for the propulsion drive and at least one auxiliary drive to which an implement can be selectively connected. The power output of the main drive engine is branched to a first part to a propulsion drive and to a second part to the auxiliary drives. A rotation speed sensor senses rotation speed of the auxiliary drive and provides a speed signal to a control unit. The control unit determines the magnitude or amplitude of the second harmonic of the speed signal and transmits corresponding control signals when a predetermined threshold value is exceeded and/or is not reached. When the control unit determines that the second harmonic of the sensor signals exceeds the threshold value, it permits an increased power output of the main drive engine.
