    Abstract: A device for generating optical vortex of desired topological charge is disclosed. The device comprises a circular mirror having hole at its centre and a radial slit. The mirror comprises a piezoelectric actuator. The actuator comprises a hollow tube having inner diameter equal to the diameter of the hole of the mirror, a through cut extending along the length of the tube from an inner till an outer diameter, and an inner and outer electrode being formed on inner and outer wall of the tube respectively, wherein the length of the electrode increases continuously in the azimuth direction across said outer wall. The Actuator is coaxially joined to the mirror such that the slit formed between the inner and outer diameter of the tube overlaps with the radial slit. Shape of the mirror undergoes azimuthal expansion upon applying excitation voltage across electrodes forming single turn helix to generate optical vortex.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a wool care composition comprising pyrethroid insecticide, a copolymer and a solvent wherein the said copolymer binds with the solvent and pyrethroid insecticide. This composition can be an improved aerosol spray formulation for treating of pure or blended woollen clothing and textile, fur and feather lined garments and other keratinous items for protection or insect proofing from various types of insect pests both clothes moths and carpet beetles during their storage, transport and use. Wool care aerosol solution can be sprayed with pressurized container having either a propellant as ready-to-use aerosol or manually operated sprayers. The aerosol spray composition may also contain fragrance and solvent. The other components in the composition are at least one copolymer/emulsifier and/or dispersant.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a lightweight structural composite, which comprises an inner core of lightweight panel encapsulated by outer layers of polymer material. Specifically, the lightweight panel consists of multiple laminations of corrugated thin metal or fiber reinforced plastic sheets kept in position by polymeric foam and/or adhesive, and enclosed in a casing of the same material. The outer layer is made up of a blend of thermosetting and thermoplastic polymers. The method of forming the composite comprises of stacking the corrugated sheets, filling the interstitial spaces with the foam, constructing the casing, the surface treatment of the panel for good adhesion to the outer polymer layer and the high temperature/pressure encapsulation of the panel with the polymer blend containing curing agents. The composite has application as replacement to wood, concrete or particle board panels used in ship docking, panels for wall, door and windows, blast-proof panels, rail sleepers and shipping pallets.

    Abstract: The invention provides a method for the preparation of fentanyl comprising: (a) reacting 4-piperidone hydrochloride (NPP) with aniline in presence of reducing environment to produce 4-anilinopiperidine (4-ANPP), (b) reacting the 4-ANPP as obtained from step (a) with phenethyl halide under reflux conditions in highly alkaline medium to give 4-anilino-N-phenethylpiperidine, and (c) converting the 4-anilino-N-phenethylpiperidine to fentanyl by reacting with propionyl chloride in presence of halogenated hydrocarbons, then isolating fentanyl by solvent extraction and purifying by crystallization from petroleum ether at a temperature ranging from 60-80° C.
