  • Patent number: 9215920
Abstract: This applicator for cosmetic products, or lipstick, is a single or multiple ply card with an embossed pattern that retains a sample of lipstick from a separate container. The pattern shears lipstick from a tube onto the applicator. Also, the pattern assists a consumer in placing the cosmetic upon the applicator. In use, a woman selects a lipstick and moves the applicator, with the raised pattern, or field, down, across the lipstick source. The lipstick collects between the embossing of the raised field. A woman folds the applicator, moves it to her mouth, and transfers the sample to her lips. Following use, a woman reverse folds the applicator and encloses the raised field and sample residue for disposal.

  • Publication number: 20140218122
Abstract: An oscillator is provided including a nanopillar and current injector for injecting a power supply current through the nanopillar, the nanopillar including at least one pattern including first and second layers made from a ferromagnetic material separated from each other by an intermediate layer made from a non-magnetic material. Each of the first and second ferromagnetic layers is prepared such that its remanent magnetic configuration corresponds to a vortex configuration and the polarity of the vortex core of the first layer is opposite the polarity of the vortex core of the second layer. The intermediate layer can allow repellant magnetic coupling between the two vortices of the first and second layers, for a zero intensity of the power supply current and a zero amplitude of the outside magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 7351280
Abstract: A composition and method for producing interconnective macroporous, resorbable and injectable calcium phosphate-based cements (MICPCs). The composition of the invention sets to poorly crystalline apatitic calcium phosphate after mixing a powder component and an aqueous solution. The multiphasic calcium phosphate components in the cement resorb at different rates allowing the timely replacement by new bone. The interconnected macroporosity in the cement allows for vascularization, entrapment of growth factors, cell colonization and tissue ingrowth. This MICPC can be used for dental and medical applications relating to bone repair, augmentation, reconstruction, regeneration, and osteoporosis treatment, and also for drug delivery, and as scaffolds for tissue engineering.

  • Patent number: 6952996
Abstract: A remotely operated manhole cover for a tanker, trailer, or other storage unit is provided. The manhole cover includes a hollow neck which is welded in place in the shell of the tanker or trailer. The neck defines an opening which allows access to the interior of the tanker or trailer for filling or cleaning of the tanker. A lid is pivotable about an axis between a closed position in which the manhole cover is closed, and an open position in which the lid is clear of the neck opening to allow access to the interior of the tanker. The lid is provided with an inflatable seal and locking flanges which extend from a rim of the lid. Movable locking members are provided on the neck and are movable between a locked position in which locking member engages the lid locking flange and an unlocked position in which the locking members are disengaged from the lid locking flange. Separate actuators are provide for the cover and the locking members.
