  • Patent number: 8926834
Abstract: A water treatment sensor includes a housing having a bottom with an exterior surface in contact with a flow path of a fluid and an interior surface. First and second probes spaced from one another extend from the exterior surface and into the flow path. A first circuit electrically connects the first and second probes and determines a conductivity from a measured resistivity between the probes. First and second temperature sensors are spaced from one another and are coupled to the interior surface. The first sensor determines a temperature of the fluid. A temperature elevated by a heat source and determined by the second sensor is maintained above the temperature of the fluid. A second circuit determines a flow rate of the fluid based on adjustments to the heat source. Communication circuitry communicates the conductivity, the temperature, and the flow rate of the fluid to a controller.

  • Patent number: 8852442
Abstract: A solid chemical feed unit dissolver has an upper feed unit chamber with an inwardly tapering sealing surface at its lower end and against which a lowermost feed unit seals, retaining the upper chamber in a dry condition, preventing wetting and caking of solid chemical feed units behind the dissolving and sealed off face of the solid chemical feed unit. A solid chemical feed unit magazine is slotted to permit gentle feeding of a plurality of solid chemical feed units therein and a cover-defined sight slot permits guiding and visual observation of remaining solid chemical feed units in the magazine. The magazine preferably, but not necessarily, defines the tapering sealing surface. Distinctly shaped solid chemical feed units are disclosed. The dissolver can handle large solid chemical feed unit loads up to one hundred pounds or more and in a small footprint stable configuration. Methods are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20140283582
Abstract: A method of determining the thermal status of fuel in a fuel distribution system (10) includes pressurizing the distribution line (16) by activating a submersible pump (14) in an underground storage tank (12). Once the distribution line (16) is pressurized, the pump (14) is switched off, and the reverse flow rate out of the distribution line back into the tank (12) is monitored. The test is repeated after a period of time, and the reverse flow rates of the separate tests are compared to determine if the fuel in the distribution line (16) is in thermal stability with the surrounding environment based on flow rate changes between tests.

  • Publication number: 20140278155
Abstract: A cylindrical quartz crystal transducer that exhibits a low probability of twinning, and uses a combination of resonator signal inputs at the B-mode and C-mode frequencies to calculate resonator temperature. Crystallographic orientations are disclosed where combinations of B-mode and C-mode resonant frequencies exist that are sufficiently independent of pressure to enable accurate calculation of temperature under transient conditions. Such a transducer is usable at higher pressures and temperatures than conventional quartz pressure transducers. Furthermore, because the structure allows a choice of crystallographic orientation, other characteristics of the transducer, such as increased pressure sensitivity and activity dip-free operation, may be optimized by varying crystallographic orientation.

  • Patent number: 8813789
Abstract: A proportioning dispenser of concentrated chemical mixed in a diluent such as water includes a water valve, an in-line water pressure regulator downstream of the valve and an eductor downstream of the regulator. When the valve is open, water flows to the regulator, and a pressure regulator water flow passes to the eductor. When the valve is closed, no water flows to the regulator, which sees pressurized water only when the water valve is open during a dispensing cycle. More accurate dilution ratios are achieved over a wide range of incoming water line pressures. In an alternate embodiment, a water valve and a regulator are formed in a common housing with the regulator operationally downstream of the valve.

  • Publication number: 20140144131
Abstract: An improved diaphragm type chemical dosing pumps can be designed as both a variable displacement accurate dosing pump and a fixed displacement accurate dosing pump. The improved dosing pump provides a required supply of pressurized fluid, to be called hereafter as process fluid, to an injection point against varying gas or liquid pressures. By eliminating the use of elastomeric sealing, the failing of the pump due to seal wear is eliminated. An internal pressure relief valve protects the pump mechanicals from premature failure. Use of a spring assisted suction assists positive suction for very accurate dosing. The working fluid is a driver fluid that is used to lubricate working components of the pump. The angled ports minimize friction losses to further improve pump efficiency and also eliminate building up of air pockets.
