  • Patent number: 11748205
Abstract: Optimizing multiple backup operations for multiple sources by discovering shared data routes between sources and targets for backup operations performed in a certain time period. Backups using shared routes use a Best Time Algorithm that determines a size of a dataset to be saved an available bandwidth in each transfer window of the time period, and then determines an order of the backup operations based on first ordering the backups based on decreasing dataset size and second ordering the transfer windows in order of decreasing bandwidth, and matching the backups to the transfer windows in accordance with the first ordering and second ordering. The optimum time represents a time to initiate each backup of the multiple backups that results in a shortest data transfer time over the entire time period.

  • Patent number: 11747882
Abstract: A networked system includes a computing device having a central processing system and accelerator system(s). A central processor/accelerator power management system coupled to the computing device via a network operates to deploy workload(s) on the computing device and receive workload performance information from the computing device that identifies a central processing system utilization of the central processing system in performing the workload(s) and an accelerator system utilization of each accelerator system in performing the workload(s). Based on the workload performance information, the computing device determines a first power consumption ratio of the central processing system and the accelerator system(s) in performing the workload(s), and modifies operation of at least one of the central processing system and the accelerator system(s) to change the first power consumption ratio to a second power consumption ratio that is more power efficient than the first power consumption ratio.

  • Patent number: 11748241
Abstract: Different storage platforms and different applications generate different types of traffic. Separate learning processes are trained using live IO operations from different types of reference workloads. The reference workloads are based on multiple types of applications executing in multiple types of environments. Example applications may include Oracle, SAP, SQL, etc. Example environments may include finance/banking, retail, on-line transaction processing, healthcare, etc. Once the learning processes have been trained, trained model checkpoints describing the trained learning processes are stored in a reference workload repository. The trained model checkpoints are used in a testing environment to enable a test server to create a test model configured to generate simulated test IO operations to be applied to a storage system. The generated test IO operations simulate the workload from an intended application and environment where the storage system will be used.

  • Patent number: 11747999
Abstract: A management appliance communicates with host servers and a storage array to determine per-path loading. Based on the loading, the management appliance selects a host server with an uncredentialed path for reconfiguration. Unique endpoint authentication credentials are sent from the management appliance to the selected host server and the storage array. The uncredentialed path is placed in standby mode and the selected host server and the storage array are updated with the unique endpoint authentication credentials, which are then used to reactivate the path with endpoint authentication. Tight coupling between the MPIO software management appliance, storage array, and MPIO drivers on the host servers enables reconfiguration to be automated and based on host server loading, storage array loading, and loading of uncredentialed paths.

  • Publication number: 20230274038
Abstract: A keyboard of an information handling system includes keyboard (RF) transmitter/receiver that provides range information for a mobile device paired to the keyboard RF transmitter/receiver. A keyboard controller is coupled to the keyboard RF transmitter/receiver and is responsive to the range information indicating the mobile device is out of range to disable key input data of the keyboard. After the key input data is disabled, the keyboard controller enables the key input data responsive to the range information indicating the mobile device has come back into range. The keyboard RF transmitter/receiver communicates with a host RF transmitter/receiver over a first RF channel and communicates with the mobile device over a second RF channel. The keyboard controller enables the key input data responsive to a successful override of the keyboard input data being disabled. The override is a predetermined key sequence and/or a valid finger print.

  • Publication number: 20230273648
Abstract: A portable information handling system having a portable housing with first and second housing portions rotationally coupled by a hinge having an adjustable torque and a sensor disposed at a front corner of a housing portion reduces torque provided by the hinge when in a closed position and an indication is sensed of an end user opening the housing portions. Reducing torque of the hinge that resists housing rotation from the closed position aids an end user in a single handed rotation of the housing to an open position by allowing the weight of the housing to be sufficient to hold the housing in place on a support surface while the housing rotates open.

  • Patent number: 11740816
Abstract: A data storage node includes a plurality of compute nodes that allocate portions of local memory to a shared cache. The shared cache is configured with mirrored and non- mirrored segments that are sized as a function of the percentage of write IOs and read IOs in a historical traffic workload profile specific to an organization or storage node. The mirrored and non-mirrored segments are separately configured with pools of data slots. Within each segment, each pool is associated with same-size data slots that differ in size relative to the data slots of other pools. The sizes of the pools in the mirrored segment are set based on write IO size distribution in the historical traffic workload profile. The sizes of the pools in the non-mirrored segment are set based on read IO size distribution in the historical traffic workload profile.
