  • Patent number: 12001851
Abstract: An information handling system includes a basic input/output system (BIOS), multiple graphics processing units (GPUs), and an advanced graphics synchronization node (AGN). The BIOS initiates boot operations for the information handling system. During a pre-extensible firmware interface phase of the boot operations, the BIOS initializes a video memory associated with the GPUs. During the boot operations, the AGN generates a firmware override table based on data in the video memory, and a redirection override table based on the data in the video memory. During operating system runtime operations, the AGN utilizes the firmware override table to synchronize outputs from the GPUs, and utilizes the redirection override table to enable a firmware update for one of the GPUs without a reboot of the information handling system.

  • Patent number: 12001410
Abstract: This disclosure provides system, methods, and media for identifying inadvertent compression or encryption in data streams from a client that land on a deduplication storage system. When one or more such abnormalities are detected, an alert message is generated to alert the administrator of the deduplication storage system so that corrective actions can be taken to prevent undesired consequences. According to an exemplary method, machine learning techniques are used to plot and smoothen global compression ratios and local compression ratios of historical backups from a client over a period of time. Then, a second derivative of each data point on the smoothened curves is taken and compared with a predetermined threshold to detect whether that the slope of the data point exceeds a threshold. A data point whose slope exceeds the threshold can be determined to be a data point corresponding to a backup that includes compression and/encryption.

  • Patent number: 12001980
Abstract: Techniques are provided for data-driven organization adjustment. In an example, a service mesh of microservices of a platform can be determined. An organizational chart of workers in an organization that maintain the microservices can be determined. Which workers manage which microservices can be determined from a repository in which code for the microservices is maintained. Then, the organizational chart can be analyzed to determine whether workers are organized in a way that meets policies based on which microservices they manage. For example, a policy can be that all workers who manage a given microservice should report to the same manager in the organization.

  • Patent number: 12003652
Abstract: Systems and procedures are provided for enforcing geographic restrictions on the operation of an IHS (Information Handling System). During factory provisioning of the IHS, a signed inventory certificate is uploaded to the IHS that specifies a plurality of allowed geographic locations at which the IHS is operational. Upon delivery and initial powering of the IHS, a validation environment is instantiated and further initialization of the IHS is halted until a location of the IHS can be determined. Once a geographic location of the IHS has been determined, it is compared to the allowed geographic locations from the inventory certificate stored during factory provisioning. When the location of the IHS is not at an allowed geographic location specified in the inventory certificate, the IHS is rendered non-operational. When the location of the IHS is at an allowed geographic location specified in the inventory certificate, further initialization of the IHS is enabled.

  • Publication number: 20240176528
Abstract: Unmap extents transmitted in delta sets are used to unmap LBAs on remote replicas of asynchronously replicated storage objects. A host server sends a SCSI unmap command to a production storage array to unmap a range of logical block addresses. In response, the production storage array creates an unmap extent that identifies the local and remote replicas, starting LBA, and number of LBAs to be unmapped. At the end of each asynchronous replication cycle, unmap extents and updated data are sent to a disaster recovery storage array in a delta set that preserves chronological ordering. The disaster recovery storage array receives the delta set and discards cached data corresponding to the unmapped LBAs indicated in the unmap extents and de-allocates the backend storage space. Integrating unmap extents with updated data in delta sets maintains point-in-time consistency and is more efficient than sending zero data.

  • Publication number: 20240176521
Abstract: A data storage system can use non-volatile solid state drives (SSDs) to provide backend storage. The data storage system and SSDs can implement log structured systems (LSSs) experiencing write amplification (WA). The SSDs can be partitioned into zones. To reduce WA of the SSD-internal LSS, multiple nodes can write to a single active zone. The active zone can be partitioned into portions each assigned for exclusive use by one of the nodes. Each node can allocate storage from its corresponding portion of the active zone. When a node consumes a threshold amount of its portion, the active zone can be repartitioned in accordance with storage consumption, write or allocation rates of the nodes. When the active zone does not have a minimum amount of free space, the active zone can be finally repartitioned. A node can switch its active zone to a next zone once it consumes its final partition.
