Patent number: 8978745Abstract: An exhaust gas heat recovery (EGHR) heat exchanger, for recovering waste heat from the hot exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine, having a housing and a cylindrical body disposed within the housing. The cylindrical body defines a central passageway and together with the housing defines an annular passageway for the flow of hot exhaust gases. A bypass means is disposed within the central passageway and adapted to selectively by-pass at least a portion of the exhaust gas from the central passageway to the annular passageway. The EGHR heat exchanger also includes at least one fluid tube extending along a tube axis and having at least one lobe extending the length of the tube thereby defining a lobed tube. The lobed tube is twisted about the tube axis forming a twisted lobed tube which is then coiled about the longitudinal axis within the annular exhaust gas passageway.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2011Date of Patent: March 17, 2015Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: James J. Patent number: 8978453Abstract: A method of detecting a crank signal error that includes incrementing a crank tooth counter in response to detecting a crank signal, comparing the crank tooth counter to an expected value when a cam signal is detected, and indicating a crank signal error if the crank tooth counter is not substantially equal to the expected value. This method is advantageous because a cam interval used to determine when to start and stop counting crank tooth pulses is automatically adjusted for variations in engine speed, while the prior art time based methods must adjust the time interval for variations in engine speed.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2012Date of Patent: March 17, 2015Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Salem Ahmad Fayyad, Andy Tenka, Sergio Quelhas

Patent number: 8975865Abstract: A source resonator includes a housing having a convex shape. The source resonator is associated with a vehicular electrical charging system used to electrically charge an energy storage device disposed on a vehicle. The source resonator is adapted for attachment to a ground surface with the convex shaped cover extending outwardly away therefrom. The convex shaped cover of the source resonator, when disposed beneath an undercarriage of a vehicle, fills a space intermediate the source resonator and the undercarriage of the vehicle such that animals, such as a dog or a cat, are discouraged from overlyingly residing thereon. External surface segments of the convex shaped cover depend or slope away from a peak point of the convex shaped cover so that foreign objects, like a soda can or a tool that engage the convex shaped cover, may passively slide off of the housing to ensure optimal performance of the source resonator.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2012Date of Patent: March 10, 2015Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Jeffrey M.
