Abstract: A butterfly needle with a protective device: includes a central body having a proximal end and an opposite distal end; a pair of wings bilaterally extending from the central body; a safety device designed to be automatically actuated by traction; and a needle with a shank having an engaging element near its tip for engagement with the safety device and supported by a needle hub at an opposite proximal end, the needle being slidingly longitudinally received in the central body, which includes an inner housing chamber between the proximal end and the distal end, wherein the safety device is irreversibly slidingly housed between a rest position and an actuated position.
