Publication number: 20080029378Abstract: A switch is disclosed having a switch housing defining a housing interior and an access opening that extends through a wall of the housing to the housing exterior. An actuator assembly including a shaft constrained by said housing moves along a path from a normal position to an actuated position as well as a momentary position. The shaft has an actuating portion which extends outwardly from the housing interior through the access opening. A shaft body inside the housing including a generally planar contact support hat supports a number of switch contacts. A housing base positions a number of terminals having conductive surfaces for biased engagement with selected switch contacts to form an electrical path between terminals when the actuator assembly is in one of either the normal, actuated or momentary positions.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2007Publication date: February 7, 2008Applicant: Delta Systems, Inc.Inventors: Christopher A. Patent number: 7168519Abstract: A switch mounting assembly that adapts a switch to detect a position of a vehicle control, such as the position of a drive control actuator of a lawn and garden tractor or similar vehicle. The switch mounting assembly includes a switch support member and a lever pivotally connected to the switch support member. The switch support member mounts a switch that includes an actuator that is biased to an extended position and a may be selectively depressed to a retracted position. The lever is pivotable between a first position that allows the actuator to be biased to the extended position and a second position that depresses the actuator to the retracted position.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2004Date of Patent: January 30, 2007Assignee: Delta Systems, Inc.Inventors: Arthur James Harvey, Michael Eric Liedtke

Patent number: 7154814Abstract: A digital engine operating time measuring apparatus for an internal combustion engine. The apparatus is powered by a magneto of the engine and accumulates engine operating time only when the engine is operating. The apparatus includes power regulation circuitry including a pair of terminals coupled to the engine magneto. The power regulation circuitry converts a time varying electrical signal generated by the magneto when the engine is operating to a low voltage DC signal. The apparatus further includes digital circuitry coupled to an output of the power regulation circuitry for calculating accumulated engine operating time. The digital circuitry is powered by the low voltage DC signal of the power regulation circuitry and only accumulates engine operating time upon sensing the low voltage DC signal. The apparatus further includes a display coupled to the digital circuitry for displaying accumulated engine operating time as calculated by the digital circuitry.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2004Date of Patent: December 26, 2006Assignee: Delta Systems, Inc.Inventor: David A. Patent number: 7131509Abstract: A safety system for a riding lawn mower that prevents powered operation of a PTO driven implement while in reverse unless an override switch is “ON”. The override switch may be a sustained action two position switch and the PTO driven implement may be a lawn mower blade. In one embodiment, the override switch does not allow the engine to start if the override switch is on. In one embodiment, the override switch cooperates with an operator presence switch to prevent operation of the PTO driven implement when the override switch is on and the operator is not present.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2006Date of Patent: November 7, 2006Assignee: Delta Systems, Inc.Inventors: Arthur James Harvey, Theodore G. Patent number: 7064639Abstract: A magnetic latching switch. The switch includes a pair of switch terminals, a switch actuator, an electromagnet and a biasing member. The switch actuator is manually moveable from a first position where the switch terminals are in a first state to a second position where the switch terminals are in a second state. The electromagnet selectively applies a magnetic field. Applying the magnetic field with the electromagnet when the switch actuator is in the second position maintains the switch actuator in the second position. The biasing member is coupled to the switch actuator such that the biasing member automatically returns the switch actuator from the second position to the first position when the magnetic field is removed.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2004Date of Patent: June 20, 2006Assignee: Delta Systems, Inc.Inventors: Arthur James Harvey, Michael Eric Liedtke, Ted Wetzel

Patent number: 7034674Abstract: An hour meter having a display that provides a visual indication of a total time an engine has operated and a visual indication of engine operation time remaining in a predetermined service time interval. A plurality of segments on the display are selectively displayed in a first optical state or a second optical state. A display drive displays the segments in the first optical state at a beginning of a predetermined service interval. The drive changes the optical state of a first segment from the first optical state to the second optical state when a given portion of the predetermined service time interval has elapsed. The drive incrementally changes the state of a remainder of the plurality of segments from the first optical state to said second optical state as additional portions of the predetermined service time interval elapse to graphically display the amount of engine operation time remaining in the predetermined service time interval.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2004Date of Patent: April 25, 2006Assignee: Delta Systems, Inc.Inventor: Arthur James Harvey
