  • Patent number: 10213568
Abstract: A nasopharyngeal cannula comprising a body formed by a tubular portion that is curved so as to be inserted into a patient's nostril and a collar for resting on the base of the patient's nostril is described. The cannula also comprises a main channel forming a fluid passage between the collar and the tubular portion of the body and two auxiliary channels formed in the body and extending from the collar into the main channel. Each auxiliary channel opens into the collar at an inlet/outlet port oriented radially in relation to the axis of the main channel such as to be oriented laterally on each side of the patient's nostril when the cannula is in place on the patient.

Abstract: An oropharyngeal or nasopharyngeal cannula (1) comprising a body (2) having a curved tubular portion (4) to be inserted into the mouth or a nostril of a patient and a flange (3) suitable for resting on the lips or on the base of the nostril of the patient, the cannula comprising a main conduit (5) and at least first and second auxiliary conduits (6, 7) formed in the body and extending through the flange to the main conduit, said cannula comprising, on a middle part (42) of the tubular portion, a series of peripheral openings (78) for opening the second auxiliary conduit on the outside of the tubular portion, thus making it possible to inject oxygen into the buccal or nasal cavity in order for it to be heated and humidified by the mucosal structures.

  • Publication number: 20160029923
Abstract: The invention relates to a nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal cannula (1, 10) comprising a body (2, 20) formed by a tube (4, 40) extending through a collar (3, 30) which can rest on the outer edges of a buccal or nasal cavity of a patient, said tube comprising a first portion (43, 430) that is at least partially curved so as to be inserted into the patient's buccal or nasal cavity as far as the pharynx and a main channel (5, 50) forming a fluid passage between the two ends (41, 42; 410, 420) of the tube. The tube comprises a hard second portion (44, 440) disposed on one side of the collar opposite the first portion, said second portion comprising a notch (E) transverse to the axis of the main channel and configured to receive infrared means that can obtain a capnography measurement of the air exhaled through the main channel.
