  • Patent number: 7809037
Abstract: A laser array circuit decreases the size of a circuit pattern. A laser-diode (LD) driving switching element with a low on resistance is used in common with and switches conduction and non-conduction of a large current to each of a plurality of charge capacitors and charge switching elements that accumulate charge in the charge capacitors in respective drive circuits. An LD array and the LD driving switching element are closely located on a light-emitting board. By laying out the LD array and charge capacitors considering only the positional relationship therebetween, the size of a circuit pattern including LDs and the charge capacitors can be decreased.

  • Patent number: 7806105
Abstract: When it is determined that an engine speed NE rapidly decreases (positive outcome at S210), a throttle increase amount TAu and a valve lift increase amount VLu are computed based on a decrease rate NEd of the engine speed NE (S220). Then, a target throttle opening degree TAt of a throttle valve and a target maximum valve lift VLt of an intake valve are increased by using the throttle increase amount TAu and the valve lift increase amount VLu (S230). As a result, a drop in the engine speed during idling is reliably suppressed.

  • Patent number: 7806093
Abstract: Engine control is provided for an engine having a crankshaft and at least one camshaft with variable valve timing in a rotation transmitting train between the crankshaft and the camshaft. A first value indicative of a cam angle at a home position at a first time is compared to a second value indicative of a cam angle at the home position at a second, earlier, time. Where a deviation in the compared values is detected that does not exceed a threshold value, the first value is stored for use in a subsequent comparison. Where a deviation in the compared values is detected that does exceed a threshold value, a failure condition is detected and the MIL light is illuminated. In this case, the value stored for comparison is not updated.

  • Patent number: 7805928
Abstract: An exhaust gas sensor for detecting oxygen concentration in exhaust gas is disposed in an exhaust pipe of an internal combustion engine. The sensor including a heater is controlled by a system that includes an electronic control unit. Water vapor contained in the exhaust gas is condensed on the sensor when the exhaust gas temperature is low. If the water condensation occurs while the sensor is heated by the heater, a sensor element may be cracked due to local cooling by the condensed water. To avoid the water condensation, the exhaust gas temperature is raised by retarding ignition timing of the engine for a certain period after the engine is started. After the exhaust gas is heated to a certain level, the sensor is heated. Alternatively, heating of the sensor is prohibited until the exhaust gas temperature becomes to a level at which no water condensation occurs. Thus, the cracking of the sensor element is avoided while making a delay of sensor activation minimal.

  • Patent number: 7807943
Abstract: In a method of producing a molding die for use in producing honeycomb structure bodies, a reference position is determined as a relative position on a workpiece between a pillar of a high-pressure water jet and a reference hole. The reference hole is penetratingly formed in a workpiece. The outer periphery of the pillar passes through the reference hole without contacting the inner wall and opening edge of the reference hole. A slit groove formation position is aligned with a pillar formation position by relatively shifting the pillar to the workpiece based on coordinate data where the reference position becomes its origin. Each slit groove is formed in the workpiece by supplying the pillar onto the slit groove formation position on the workpiece while irradiating and scanning a laser beam into the pillar of a high-pressure water jet many times along the slit groove formation position on the workpiece.

  • Publication number: 20100246327
Abstract: An obstacle detection apparatus includes an ultrasonic sensor and a control part. The ultrasonic sensor detects a presence of an obstacle around a vehicle and a distance to the obstacle by transmitting an ultrasonic wave and receiving the ultrasonic wave reflected by the obstacle. The control part includes at least one of a rainfall amount determining portion and a noise determining portion. When the rainfall determining portion determines that a rainfall amount is greater than a predetermined amount or when the noise determining portion determines that noise is present, the control part outputs a command signal to the ultrasonic sensor so that the ultrasonic sensor decreases a directivity compared with a case where the rainfall determining portion determines that the rainfall amount is less than or equal to the predetermined amount or a case where the noise determining portion determines that noise is not present.

  • Publication number: 20100250097
Abstract: An actual maximum fuel injection rate is computed based on a falling waveform and a rising waveform of the fuel pressure. The falling waveform represents the fuel pressure detected by a fuel sensor during a period in which the fuel pressure increases due to a fuel injection rate decrease. The rising waveform represents the fuel pressure detected by the fuel sensor during a period in which the fuel pressure decreases due to a fuel injection rate increase. The falling waveform and the rising waveform are modeled by modeling functions. A reference pressure is computed based on pressure during a specified time period before the falling waveform is generated. An intersection pressure is computed, at which the straight lines expressed by the modeling functions intersect to each other. The maximum fuel injection rate is computed based on a fuel pressure drop from the reference pressure to the intersection pressure.
