    Abstract: These improved compositions include a polymethylalkylsiloxane hair conditioning These improved compositions include a polymethyMcarrier medium such as a hair shampoo, hair conditioner or aerosol spray composition. The polymethylalkylsiloxane is from 0.1% to about 10% by weight of the total composition and is of the general formula: R.sub.2 (CH.sub.3)Si(OSi(CH.sub.3).sub.2).sub.x (OSiR'CH.sub.3).sub.y OSi(CH.sub.3)R.sub.2, wherein each R is selected from the group consisting or methyl, ethyl and phenyl groups, R' is an alkyl group of from 8 to about 60 carbon atoms where the total number or R' groups present has an average of at least 12 carbon atoms, the values of x and y are such that the ratio of x:y is in the range of from 97:3 to 55:45, the sum of x+y is greater than or equal to about 60 and less than or equal to about 1,333 and the polymethylalkylsiloxane has a melting transition, as measured by a differential scanning calorimeter, between about -25.degree. C. to +27.degree. C.
