Abstract: A drill guide is provided for aligning and installing a transverse pin through a tunnel formed by a tunnel drill in a bone to secure a ligament replacement to the bone. The drill guide includes an arm member and a drill guide sleeve coupled to the arm member. The drill guide sleeve is formed to include a central bore for guiding a drill to form a transverse guide hole in the bone to guide insertion of the transverse pin into the bone. The central bore of the drill guide sleeve has an axis which is aligned to intersect the tunnel. The arm member of the drill guide is coupled to the tunnel drill while the tunnel drill is still in the bone to align the arm member and drill guide sleeve at a desired anatomical location using the tunnel drill in the bone as a reference.
Abstract: A method is provided for anchoring a replacement ligament in a bone. The method includes the steps of drilling a first hole through the bone with a drill to form a ligament tunnel, and drilling a second hole in the bone at an angle relative to the ligament tunnel using the drill inside the ligament tunnel as a reference to establish the position of the second hole. The method also includes the step of inserting a transverse pin through the second hole to secure the replacement ligament to the bone.
Abstract: A modular shoulder prosthesis for the replacement of a portion of the humerus is provided. The prosthesis is assembled from a kit that includes a stem sized to be received in the humerus, a body sized to replace a portion of the humerus, the body being attachable to the stem, and a head member sized to replace the head of the humerus, the head member being eccentrically attachable to the body. A collar is inserted between the head member and the body to help stabilize the assembled prosthesis.

Abstract: A modular hip prosthesis for the replacement of a portion of the femur is provided. The prosthesis is assembled from a kit that includes a stem member having an upper portion and a lower portion, with the lower portion sized to be received in the femur. The kit also includes a body member that is sized to replace a portion of the femur and is configured to be received over the upper portion of a stem member. The kit also includes a head member that is sized to replace the head of the femur. A neck member is provided to attach the head member to the body member to form an assembled prosthesis.

Abstract: A penetration resistant hand protector for medical applications comprising a glove having an exterior and an interior side. The glove also has stalls terminating with tip ends for four fingers and a thumb, a front palm side and a back side, and is formed from a cut resistant material. A puncture resistant covering is attached to at least two of the stalls of the four fingers and the thumb. The puncture resistance covering extends on the exterior side of tho glove to cover the fingers and thumbs on the palm side of the glove from at least the tip of the fingers to a point just below the attachment area of the finger to the palm of the hand so as to protect the fingers of the hand without inhibiting flexure of the palm portion of the glove. The cut resistant material is a composite formed from a resilient core and an outer winding of cut resistant fiber.
Abstract: A surgical instrument case suitable for autoclaving and instrument presenting to the surgeon during surgery comprising a container formed to include an interior region, cradle means for holding a variety of surgical instruments attached to the bottom of the container to be in the interior region; and a top. The top, when it is open, provides support means for propping the instrument case at an acute angle to the horizontal to provide easy access to the instruments by the surgeon while minimizing handling, the top being hingedly attached to the container. The cradle means is formed to include notches of various size to accommodate instruments of various sizes in laterally spaced-apart, upwardly extending positions when the instrument case is opened and propped up.
