    Abstract: Various systems and methods are provided for surgical and interventional planning, support, post-operative follow-up, and functional recovery tracking. In general, a patient can be tracked throughout medical treatment including through initial onset of symptoms, diagnosis, non-surgical treatment, surgical treatment, and recovery from the surgical treatment. In one embodiment, a patient and one or more medical professionals involved with treating the patient can electronically access a comprehensive treatment planning, support, and review system. The system can provide recommendations regarding diagnosis, non-surgical treatment, surgical treatment, and recovery from the surgical treatment based on data gathered from the patient and the medical professional(s).

    Abstract: A shoulder prosthesis of the present invention includes a modular humeral prosthesis component employing a collarless design. A body portion of the prosthesis is provided without a collar, and it may be implanted into a prepared proximal end of a humerus such that the body sits recessed below the level of the cut proximal surface of the humerus. A head portion is provided in which a support surface of the head functions as collar by direct apposition of it to the cut proximal humerus. The modular connection is thus recessed below the proximal bone surface. By providing a modular connection which is recessed below the bone surface, the benefits of modularity may be retained, while joint overstuffing may be reduced or eliminated, and a substantially full range of motion may be achieved.

    Abstract: In one embodiment of the invention, a method is provided including the steps of preparing an opening in the bone sized to receive a prosthesis therein and then inserting an apertured temporary implant into the opening. A fluent material is then injected into the temporary implant so that the material exudes from the apertures into contact with the bone surrounding the temporary implant. The temporary implant is then removed to make way for implanting the prosthesis into the bone opening. The fluent material can be a biological, biocompatible or bioactive material, such as a composition adapted to permanently fill voids and irregularities in the bone or a composition adapted to promote bone growth. In another embodiment, an implant assembly includes an apertured sleeve adapted to be permanently implanted within the bone opening, but providing apertures for injecting a fluent material into the opening.

    Abstract: A tibial trial assembly for evaluating the stability and kinematics of a tibial implant, particularly a mobile bearing implant, prior to committing to the final preparation of the proximal tibia is described. The tibial trail assembly includes a tray trial adapted to be secured onto a resected proximal end of a patient's tibia. An evaluation bullet is either adapted to removably fit into a configured recess in the trial tray, or is integral therewith. A trunnion on the evaluation bullet accepts a recess in a corresponding articular tibial insert trial. The tibial insert trial is thus received on the trunnion. Preferably, the evaluation bullet is removable from the trial tray such that the remaining assembly is used to locate and guide (orient) the instrument(s) that prepare the tibia for the final implant. Typically, this includes broaching, drilling, or punching through the opening in the trial tray/plate.
