Patent number: 11806098Abstract: Sterile connectors for robotic or robot-assisted surgery and related systems and methods can be used to establish a sterile barrier between a non-sterile robot arm and a surgical site. More particularly, a sterile connector can include a first component connector to couple to a distal end of a robot arm, a second component connector to couple to an end effector, and a sterile drape extending from the sterile connector. The sterile drape can drape the robot arm and can maintain a sterile barrier around the robot arm throughout the course of a surgical procedure. In this manner, an end effector can be swapped out during the procedure without the need to re-drape or re-establish the sterile surgical field. In some embodiments, the sterile connector can facilitate the passage of electrical signals and/or light between the sterile connector and at least one of the robot arm and end effector.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2020Date of Patent: November 7, 2023Assignee: DePuy Synthes Products, Inc.Inventors: Robert Brik, William Frasier, Tarik Yardibi, Brice Dudley, Jr.

Patent number: 11806059Abstract: An orthopedic fixation system includes an orthopedic implant and an implant retainer. The orthopedic implant transitions between a natural shape and an insertion shape whereby a transition of the orthopedic implant from the natural shape to the insertion shape stores deliverable energy and a transition of the orthopedic implant from the insertion shape to the natural shape delivers stored energy. The implant retainer is configured to engage the orthopedic implant and constrain the orthopedic implant in the insertion shape such that the implant grip prevents a transition of the orthopedic implant from the insertion shape to the natural shape.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2021Date of Patent: November 7, 2023Assignee: DePuy Synthes Products, Inc.Inventors: Daniel F. Patent number: 11806029Abstract: An aiming arm system comprises an aiming arm and a guide sleeve. The aiming arm has 1) a body and a guide hole that extends through the body along a hole axis, and 2) a retention element supported relative to the body. The aiming arm is configured to be positioned such that the hole axis is aligned with a target location of an anatomical implant. The guide sleeve extends along a linear direction, and is sized to be inserted through the guide hole in the linear direction. Relative rotation between the guide sleeve and the retention element transitions the aiming arm system between an unlocked configuration whereby the guide sleeve is insertable through the guide hole, and a locked configuration whereby the retention element applies a retention force to the guide sleeve that substantially prevents the guide sleeve from moving further along the linear direction.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2021Date of Patent: November 7, 2023Assignee: DEPUY SYNTHES PRODUCTS, INC.Inventors: David Cowens, Mark Thibeault
