  • Patent number: 11273050
Abstract: An adjustable spinal fusion intervertebral implant is provided that can comprise upper and lower body portions that can each have proximal and distal wedge surf aces disposed at proximal and distal ends thereof. An actuator shaft disposed intermediate the upper and lower body portions can be actuated to cause proximal and distal protrusions to converge towards each other and contact the respective ones of the proximal and distal wedge surfaces. Such contact can thereby transfer the longitudinal movement of the proximal and distal protrusions against the proximal and distal wedge surfaces to cause the separation of the upper and lower body portions, thereby expanding the intervertebral implant. The upper and lower body portions can have side portions that help facilitate linear translational movement of the upper body portion relative to the lower body portion.

  • Patent number: 11272939
Abstract: Implants can be used as flow diverters for treating aneurysms. Implants can include a stabilizing frame for anchoring the implant and an occluding element for diverting blood flow from the aneurysm neck. The stabilizing frame can have two parts, the first part sized to anchor within the sac of the aneurysm and the exterior part sized to anchor against a region of the blood vessel wall adjacent the aneurysm neck. The occluding element can be attached to the interior frame and positioned to occlude the aneurysm neck. The implant can have a central node that can be positioned near the center of the aneurysm neck at which the interior frame is attached to the exterior frame and from which the interior frame and the exterior frame extend.

  • Patent number: 11266453
Abstract: A method of shaping a bone screw with an automated device having a CNC unit includes rotating a blank coupled to a spindle about an axis defined by a coordinate system of the CNC unit, advancing a cutting tool proximally through an exterior of the blank at a speed to form a helical thread along a shaft, and reducing the speed to provide a variable, proximally decreasing pitch along at least a portion of the shaft. A first cutting tool is automatically transitioned toward disengagement from the blank when 1) a relative axial position between the first cutting tool and the blank coincides with a first coordinate of a predetermined location, and 2) a relative rotational position between the first cutting tool and the blank coincides with a second coordinate of the predetermined location. The first coordinate is along the axis, the second coordinate is an angular position about the axis, and the first and second coordinates are defined by the coordinate system.

  • Patent number: 11266305
Abstract: The disclosure relates and extends to a light source having a strobing or pulsing sequence suitable for use with a CMOS sensor that does not require, have, or use a global shutter. Instead, the CMOS sensor synchronizes the strobing input with the blanking portion of the sensor readout pattern and disables the strobing during sensor readout, or when the strobing would otherwise leave artifacts in the image. The CMOS sensor freezes its readout during the strobing.

  • Publication number: 20220062584
Abstract: The designs presented can be for a highly flexible and kink-resistant catheter device for vascular applications. The device can have a more flexible distal section so that the catheter is capable of navigating highly tortuous areas of the anatomy and increasingly stiffer sections towards the more proximal region of the catheter. The device can have tubular polymer segments making up the shaft core and can have one or more helical ribbon segments arranged as coils and extending in a spiral around the outer surface of the tubular segments. The variability in how the ribbon segments are cut and the amount of material left in different regions can control the stiffness changes along the axial length of the catheter. By combining various tubular segments of different durometer beneath the helical segments, another design variable can be used to create transitions and force transmission capabilities not previous possible with less materials.

  • Patent number: 11253265
Abstract: An assembly at a proximal end of an intravascular delivery system can allow the proximal end of a pull wire to move independently of a delivery tube. The assembly can generally include the pull wire, the delivery tube, a feature to prevent the proximal end of the pull wire from becoming inaccessible due to distal movement of the pull wire, and a feature to protect the proximal end of the pull wire from inadvertent, premature manipulation. When the intravascular delivery system is navigating tortuous vasculature, the proximal end of the pull wire can move distally in relation to the proximal end of delivery tube, relieving stress on the distal end of the pull wire. The proximal end of the pull wire can be protected from inadvertent manipulation during delivery and made available for manipulation once the distal end of the delivery system is in place.

  • Publication number: 20220047148
Abstract: The disclosure extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for detecting whether an illumination source of an endoscope is in use (inside the body of a patient) versus not in use (outside the body of a patient). The disclosure relies on the fact that the working environment is lit solely by the endoscope and its components. Thus, communication between the illumination or light source controller and the imaging device, such as a surgical camera, is required. When the illumination or light source is turned off and the endoscope is outside the body, a sensor will detect ambient light alerting the illumination source controller that it is outside the body, which then keeps the illumination source off or at a low intensity level. Conversely, when the illumination source is turned off and the endoscope is inside the body, the sensor will not detect any light (or will detect only a very low level of light).

  • Publication number: 20220031443
Abstract: A tubular, folding flow diverter is provided. The flow diverter includes a plurality of sections, including a first section, a second section, and a third section. The flow diverter is shapeable to an elongated cylindrical shape and is movable to an implanted configuration. In the implanted configuration, the second section and at least a portion of the first and third sections overlap to form a three-layer shape. This three-layer shape can be positioned proximate an aneurysm neck when implanted in a patient. The overall porosity of the implant can be higher than legacy implants, because the overlapping portion of the three sections can decrease the porosity proximate the aneurysm neck.
