Abstract: A device includes a dispensing mechanism that is operable to dispense a substance from a canister that is connected to the device. The device includes at least one iontophoresis electrode that is chargeable to generate an electric field to enable transdermal delivery of an active ingredient of the substance when the substance is dispensed onto skin.

Abstract: System and method for treating a surface are provided. A flexible or adaptable pad for treating a surface may be particularly suitable for treatment of uneven surfaces. An apparatus may include a mounting section and a flexible surface comprising a plurality of treatment sections. The treatment sections may comprise an abrasive material. Cracks or grooves on a surface of the apparatus enable a first and second treatment sections to assume a respective first and second positions with respect to a treated surface. An edge of a groove may be designed to increase an abrasiveness of the apparatus and may remove material from a treated surface. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A minutely controlled dermabrasion hand piece includes a main hand piece body for holding the hand piece by a user, a treatment head to provide negative pressure to a treated tissue and a vacuum tube to provide negative pressure to the treatment head through the main hand piece body. The main hand piece body includes at least one opening to control the supply of negative pressure to the treatment head. The opening is blockable by the user holding the hand piece.

Abstract: A device and method for dermatological use with one or a plurality of active components and a failsafe control. The device includes a light source configured to be toggled between an activated state and an inactivated state, a photosensitive detector configured to detect incoming light and a processing unit for the failsafe control. The processing unit is configured to concurrently determine whether light detected by the photosensitive detector is indicative of a safe operating proximity and is indicative of a safe operating skin tonal range; and activate the active components only when the processing unit determines that the device is within the safe operating proximity, and that the light reflected from the surface is indicative of the safe operating proximity and safe operating skin tonal range.
