  • Publication number: 20220273511
Abstract: A patient positioning system configured for positioning and supporting a patient against movement, the positioning system comprising: an arm positioner configured to be positionable about an arm of the patient. The arm positioner has a triangular wedge with a planar base and an angled leg, an end of the triangular wedge of the arm positioner is located to extend between the base of the arm positioner and the angled leg of the arm positioner and configured to abut the arm of the patient. An upper flexible flap extends away from the angled leg of the arm positioner adjacent the end of the triangular wedge; and a lower flexible flap extends away from the base of the arm positioner adjacent the end of the triangular wedge. The upper flexible flap and the lower flexible flap are configured to be oppositely wrapped around the arm of the patient to snugly envelope the arm and secure it relative to the triangular wedge.

  • Publication number: 20220192887
Abstract: A negative pressure wound therapy system treats multiple wounds on a patient's body. The system includes a source of negative air pressure, an air source, first and second fluid collection volumes, first and second wound-covering domes disposed over first and second wounds, a valve assembly disposed between the source of negative air pressure and the first and second fluid collection volumes, and between the air source and the first and second domes. The valve assembly has first and second operational modes. In the first, the valve assembly puts the source of negative air pressure in fluid communication with the first fluid collection volume, and the air source in fluid communication with the first dome. In the second, the valve assembly puts the source of negative air pressure in fluid communication with the second fluid collection volume, and the air source in fluid communication with the second dome.

  • Patent number: 11338071
Abstract: A fluid medical waste canister has interior surfaces that are exposed only to compressive stresses when a vacuum is applied, thereby eliminating the potential for environmental stress cracking. The canister is compatible with medical procedures that generate fluids having high fat/lipid content, such as liposuction procedures. The canister avoids certain stress concentration distributions that cause cracks to close onto themselves, which can cause one or more pieces of the canister wall to rupture into its interior volume. Because the canister is designed to avoid conditions that initiate canister implosion during liposuction procedures, low-cost polystyrene may be used as a waste canister material for such procedures.

  • Publication number: 20220133541
Abstract: A stack of eye shields includes a plurality of eye shields each having a frame with receivers located along the frame and latches located to engage the receivers, and spaced apart elevated support surfaces along and rising above an upper portion of the frame; and a lens installed on the frame and having lens apertures extending through the lens and aligned with the receivers of the frame, with the latches engaged with the receivers securing the lens to the frame. The eye shields are stacked one on top of another with each of the eye shields oriented substantially parallel to one another with each of the elevated surfaces of an overlying one of the frames of the stack being slightly forward of a corresponding one of the elevated surfaces of the underlying frame of the stack, with each frame of each eye shield of the stack having a gap therebetween except at contact surfaces where the elevated support surfaces contact an adjacent lower surface of an overlying eye shield.

  • Publication number: 20220113560
Abstract: An eye shield includes a frame having a plurality of receivers located along the frame and a plurality of latches located to cooperate with the receivers, and a lens having a plurality of spaced apart lens apertures extending through the lens and located so as to align with the receivers of the frame when the lens is positioned for installation onto the frame. The latches are engageable with the receivers by rotating the latches to pass an elongate catch of the latch into the receiver through the aligned lens aperture and an open front of the receiver to latchingly engage a tooth of the latch with a catch surface of the receiver in a snap-fit frictional relationship. The latches are also selectively disengageable from the receivers by applying force to a lower edge of the latch and flexing the lower edge of the latch rearward slightly to disengage the tooth from the catch surface.

  • Publication number: 20220027841
Abstract: An apparatus for managing an inventory of goods stored in multiple bins on a shelving system includes an RFID antenna disposed on an upper shelf of the shelving system. The RFID antenna communicates with RFID tags disposed above the upper shelf RF shielding is disposed between the RFID antenna and lower shelves. An RFID tag is attached to a bin configured to contain the goods. The RFID tag is encoded with information identifying the goods stored in the bin. An RFID reader performs scans to detect RFID tags disposed above the upper shelf. An inventory computer generates a bin detection confirmation message based on the RFID tag being detected by the RFID reader at least a first number of times during a predetermined detection period. The inventory computer also generates a product reorder message based on the RFID tag being detected by the RFID reader at least a second number of times during the predetermined detection period, wherein the second number of times is greater than the first number of times.

  • Publication number: 20210303807
Abstract: An inventory management system provides automated management of medical item inventory and maintenance of a digital chain of custody for medical items. Medical items are labeled with an RFID-encoded tag that also displays a 2D barcode. The RFID tag and the 2D barcode both encode the same serialized Electronic Product Code (EPC) data for each specific item. Reading of the RFID tag is performed using a fixed or handheld RFID reader. Reading of the 2D barcode is performed using a handheld mobile device, such as a tablet or smart phone. The two-technology label allows for the digital chain of custody to be updated by means of RFID scanning in locations where RFID readers are available and by using a smart phone or tablet to read the 2D barcode in locations where RFID readers are unavailable.

  • Publication number: 20210279812
Abstract: A computer-implemented method identifies insurance risk adjustment opportunities for healthcare expenses of healthcare insurance program enrollees. The method includes providing inputs for each enrollee to a machine learning network. The inputs may include Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Hierarchical Condition Category (CMS-HCC) values, an enrollee claims history, and enrollee historical spending amounts. Based on the inputs, the machine learning network is trained to predict future healthcare spending for the enrollees. After training, the machine learning network identifies enrollees having predicted future healthcare spending that differs from an amount determined based on a base risk score.
