Abstract: A system and method for delaying the start of the continuous positive air pressure therein making it easier for a user to fall asleep. The system delivers pressurized gas to the airway of a patient. The system has a gas flow generator for providing a flow of gas and a mask for delivery of gas flow to an airway of a patient. The mask has an exhaust port being continuously open and having suitable flow resistance for maintaining a pressure in the cavity. The mask has a breathing port adaptable to open when no flow of pressurized air for allowing free breathing by the user. A hose extends between the gas flow generator and the mask for providing a flow of gas. The system has a mechanism for turning the flow of gas on at a time distinct from turning on the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20120304985
Abstract: A continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) system provides positive airway pressure therapy. It has been recognized that users generally prefer to breathe freely rather than to fight the pressurized air when possible. A continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) system provides positive airway pressure therapy when required, but allows the user to breathe freely with the mask on when positive airway pressure is not required. The system has a valve that moves between two positions to open and close the unassisted breathing vent and the outlet from the flow generator.

  • Publication number: 20120298099
Abstract: A docking station holds a flow generator of a CPAP system. The docking station has many purposes including having an acoustic chamber to reduce the inherent acoustic noise including from the intake of the flow generator that the user and other hear. The docking station has additional features including humidifying and intake air filtering.

  • Publication number: 20120266873
Abstract: A gas delivery system that provides positive airway pressure therapy. A mask couples to a patient's face to deliver pressurized gas to an airway of the patient. The mask includes a flow generator system disposed on the mask and that pressurizes the gas, the flow generator including at least one motor. A controller controls the at least one motor.
