Abstract: A semi-disposable medical-fluid waste management apparatus includes a rigid canister having a first and second canister portions with an opening in the first portion. One of the canister portions includes an interstitial vacuum port therein, and the first and second canister portions include first and second seal portions, respectively, which when sealingly engaged form a canister joint in a canister-closed position. The canister joint defines a seal area, and the canister opening defines an opening area which is smaller than the seal area. The apparatus also includes (a) a disposable assembly having a lid configured to sealingly mate with the canister opening and lid-ports for vacuum and fluid connections and (b) a suction liner sealingly attached to the lid and to be inserted into the canister to receive medical-fluid waste when the canister is closed and the lid is mated with the canister opening.
