Abstract: A portable luggage scale (20) comprising a lifting handle (22) or grip, a luggage support (24), a housing (28), a spring based weighing mechanism (26) within the housing (28), a weight indicating dial (30), the weight indicating dial (30) being adapted for movement relative to the housing (28) in response to spring reactions of the spring based weighing mechanism (26), and a measured weight indicating marker (36) for indicating a measured weight, that weight being readable off the dial (30) at the location 52 of the marker (36). The lifting handle (22) can be telescopic, and the luggage support (24) can be a loop (42) of webbing.
