Patent number: 9982813Abstract: A swage fitting for connection of tubes by axial swaging includes a fitting body having a generally cylindrical body and an internal axial bore. A swage end of the fitting body includes a tapered inner surface that compresses a tapered outer surface of a sleeve into the tube when the fitting body is swaged to the sleeve and the tube. An adapter end of the fitting body may be fastened by a permanent or separable connection to another part.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2015Date of Patent: May 29, 2018Assignee: Designed Metal Connections, Inc.Inventors: John Russell Dobmeier, May Danhash

Patent number: 9574688Abstract: First and second conduits are joined in a manner to control electrical resistance of a conduit circuit. A cylindrical section of an adapter is placed onto an end of the first conduit. A part of the cylindrical section is crimped onto the first conduit while a spacing block made of a polymer material having a previously chosen conductivity is positioned around the end of the first conduit and clipped onto the cylindrical section. The crimping locks the spacing block to the adapter and deforms an assembly comprising the clipping pieces of the spacing block and the adapter, so as to immobilize the clipping pieces relative to each other in a direction parallel to an axis of the cylindrical section of the adapter, and such that an exterior surface of the first conduit engages interior surfaces of the spacing block and the adapter.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2010Date of Patent: February 21, 2017Assignee: DESIGNED METAL CONNECTIONS, INC.Inventors: Benoit Artaud, Stephane Heraud, Daniel Lecroc

Publication number: 20140020226Abstract: A swage tool includes a first die coupled to a portion of a first die block and a second die coupled to a portion of a second die block. A cylinder moves the second die toward the first die. The first die block rotates about a longitudinal axis of the first die block.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 19, 2012Publication date: January 23, 2014Applicant: DESIGNED METAL CONNECTIONS, INC.Inventors: May DANHASH, Luis Arturo CHAVEZ, Jeffrey Adam Lloyd AKERMANN

Patent number: 8550504Abstract: A fluid fitting for attachment to a tube includes a cylindrical first sleeve having a tapered outer end surface and an inner surface defining an axial bore for receiving the tube. A cylindrical second sleeve creates an annular space for receiving the tube between the first and second sleeves when the second sleeve is placed within the axial bore. The axial bore has substantially equal diameter throughout. A swage ring has a tapered inner surface that axially swages the swage ring to the first sleeve, second sleeve and tube. A first sleeve shoulder restricts axial movement of the swage ring. A first portion protrudes from the inner surface of the first sleeve to restrict axial movement of the second sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2011Date of Patent: October 8, 2013Assignee: Designed Metal Connections, Inc.Inventor: May Danhash

Patent number: 8458876Abstract: A swage tool for swaging axially swaged fittings includes a housing having an inner surface and a first yoke. A ram includes a recessed portion having a threaded inner surface portion. A piston includes a second yoke. A piston rod includes a spring holder and a threaded portion screwed into the threaded inner surface portion of the ram. A spring is connected to the spring holder. Carbon fiber bearings are provided on the ram and on an outer surface portion of the piston rod in axial slidable engagement with the inner surface of the housing.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2010Date of Patent: June 11, 2013Assignee: Designed Metal Connections, Inc.Inventor: May Danhash

Publication number: 20120174383Abstract: This invention concerns a process for joining at least a first and a second conduit so as to control the electrical resistance of a circuit of conduits characterized in that it comprises of the following steps placing a cylindrical section of an adapter (220) onto an end of the first conduit (500). crimping at least one part of the cylindrical section onto the first conduit, with a spacing block (100) of a polymeric material having a preselected conductivity being positioned on the extension of the end of the first conduit and clipped to the cylindrical section, with the crimping serving to lock the spacing block with respect to the adapter. joining the spacing block to the end of the second conduit.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2010Publication date: July 12, 2012Applicant: DESIGNED METAL CONNECTIONS, INC.Inventors: Benoit Artaud, Stephane Heraud, Daniel Lecroc

Publication number: 20110039434Abstract: An improved full tension connector for electrical conductors has a substantially cylindrical outer surface and a stepped series of substantially cylindrical inner surfaces with progressively smaller inside diameters. The design of the connector allows for improved control of the compression of the cable inside the fitting. A series of swages, progressing successively from a light compression to a heavier compression, ensures that the connector will sustain the required tensile load.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2009Publication date: February 17, 2011Applicant: DESIGNED METAL CONNECTIONS, INC.Inventors: Luis Sosa, Robert Hobbs, Bruce Young
