Abstract: An adjustable telescope alignment apparatus employs a telescopic assembly which is secured about the periphery to a pivot ring. The telescopic assembly extends from the front and back surfaces of the pivot ring. The pivot ring is positioned within a inner peripheral channel of a collet member to form a ball and socket joint. The collet member has an outer threaded area which is engaged by a threaded locking ring which locking ring selectively compresses the collet member. By means of the ball and socket joint one can adjust and move the telescope assembly within a desired cone of rotation. The collet member is inserted within an aperture formed in a carrier lens held by a spectacle frame and is secured to the lens by means of a suitable adhesive as applied to an outer peripheral flange of the collet member.
Abstract: A magnifying assembly of the type employing a lens surrounded by a plastic or metal holding is placed in a light diffuser, which light diffuser is an annular member having an open top which is associated with a peripheral flange upon which the magnifying lens rests. The member has a bottom opening which is associated with an annular curved flange which is abraded so as to uniformly diffuse light over the surface of a document to be read whereby the area enclosed by the bottom opening of the annual member is uniformly illuminated by a light source.
Abstract: A telescope housing has a removable finger accommodating ring secured thereto. The ring is coupled to the housing by a post having left and right flanges with upstanding distal ends opposedly projecting from one end of the post to be inserted into an aperture located in a latch on the ring. In this manner, various telescope assemblies of different magnification can be accommodated by the use of the removable ring which also enables convenient storage.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for assisting in the selection of corrective lenses includes a spectacle frame having at least one test mounting lens emplaced in the eyepiece of the frame. The test mounting lens has a horizontally elongated aperture for releasably and slideable receiving a telescope holder therein. The telescope holder releasably retains a telescope within it and rides in the slot for positioning the telescope in a position that allows a person being tested to see through the telescope.

Abstract: A method for prescribing bifocal spectacles for a person having reduced visual acuity includes placing a trial frame on the face of said person in front of his eyes and measuring a far interpupillary distance when said person is viewing a distant object, placing corrective lenses in said frame until said person views said distant object with acuity, placing high plus lenses in said frame for each eye and moving said right and left trial frame sections towards each other while said person is viewing text at a nearer distance and until said person can read said text with binocular vision and then obtaining a near interpupillary distance from said frame and recording said far and near distances with said far prescription and said high plus diopter to employ said recorded data to fabricate bifocal spectacles for said person from said data. The resulting spectacles are also described.
