Patents Assigned to Deutsch Forschungsanstalt fur Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V.
  • Patent number: 5971326
Abstract: A surface (2) is intended for a wall which is subject to a turbulent flow with a main direction of flow. The surface (2) has projecting ribs (6) oriented in the main direction of flow and spaced laterally to the main direction of flow. The height (8) of the ribs is in the range of 45% to 60% of the lateral distance between the ribs. The ribs (6) are wedge-shaped with a wedge angle (7) in the range of 20.degree. to 50.degree..

  • Patent number: 5944441
Abstract: In a connection between round composite fiber rods or pipes positioned at an angle to one another there are provided angular connecting elements of which the angle corresponds to the angle between the rods to be connected, fiber helical windings in the region of the vertices of the angular connecting elements, respective arms of the connecting elements being arranged to be inserted in the rod or pipe ends. The angular connecting elements are fastened positively on a rod and/or rest frictionally in the rod ends. The fiber helical windings wrap around the angular connecting elements in their angled portions and connect them to one another. Fillers and/or adhesives fill the cavities which are formed at the rod or pipe ends.

  • Patent number: 5924649
Abstract: An aircraft with supporting wings including wing shells with good shear strength made of fibrous composite materials, particularly fiber-reinforced plastics, having members taking up tensile and compressive forces on the inside of the wing shells. The members have unidirectional fibers extending longitudinally of the wing, and fixing elements which can be joined detachably to fuselage attachments are provided on the members at the root end of the wing. Stringers are constructed on the inside of the wing shells and spaced longitudinally of the shells, their fiber component being formed by a fiber layer joined to the fiber layer of the wing shell. Fiber bundles are arranged between spaced stringers as unidirectional stiffening elements. The fiber bundles are embedded in the synthetic resin matrix of the plane load-bearing structure and extend longitudinally of the supporting wing.

  • Patent number: 5739526
Abstract: A photoelectric beam device comprises a light source, a monomode optical fibre, a transmitting optical unit, a reflector and a photodetector, where the transmitting optical unit comprises a collimation optical unit, e.g. in the form of a graded index lens or rod lens and a beam expansion optical unit e.g. in the form of a telescopic optical unit. A fibre-optic directional coupler, arranged between the light source and the monomode fibre, conducts to the photodetector the optical signal reflected back from the reflector to the transmitting optical unit and refocused into the fibre.

  • Patent number: 5371004
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a device for the biological detection of radiation by microorganisms in form of a microorganism coating provided on a sheet substrate, which microorganism coating is exposed, optionally after calibration by exposure to a defined radiation dose, to the radiation to be detected. The principle of evaluating the biologically weighted quantification of the radiation dose consists of photometrically determining the decrease in response to the radiation dose of the amount of synthetically formed products upon selectively staining the biosynthesis products.

  • Patent number: 4926708
Abstract: An apparatus for converting rotary motion into axial motion includes a spindle with an external contour and a nut with an internal profile and interposed contoured rollers which have two different contours, one of which produces an axial connection with the contour of the spindle, and the other of which produces a corresponding axial connection with the contour of the interior of the nut. It is preferred that the contour on the interior of the nut be in the form of relatively coarse grooves of V-shaped cross section, with fine simplex thread on the exterior of the spindle. Coarse grooves corresponding to and fitting the coarse grooves on the interior of the nut, alternating with a number of fine grooves corresponding to the fine simplex thread on the spindle, are provided on the outside of the rollers that are disposed between the spindle and the nut.
