  • Patent number: 4602677
Abstract: Convection cooler for cooling a gas produced under elevated pressure in a gasification reactor. The cooler has a pressure-tight jacket provided with a removable cover. Within the jacket there is an insert arranged spaced apart therefrom. The insert has tubes joined in gastight manner to each other by way of webs. Contact heating surfaces are arranged in the insert which is supported on the pressure jacket. The insert is closed at its upper end by way of a ceiling constructed of tubes. The contact heating surfaces are joined to support tubes. The upper ends of the contact heating surfaces and the support tubes are passed through the ceiling. The support tubes, the contact heating surfaces, and the ceiling are suspended from the cover independently of the insert. Wall soot blowers are arranged fixedly superimposed at several levels in the insert.

  • Patent number: 4601734
Abstract: Cyclones are arranged within a pressure vessel and are connected, at the gas entry side, with a furnace by way of a feed pipe standing under pressure and a distributor duct. The cyclones are connected, at the gas exit side, to a collecting duct and a discharge pipe. The feed pipe and the discharge pipe are surrounded by an outer pipe with the formation of an annular space. The annular spaces have a connection to the interior space of the pressure vessel, and are connected with a compressor.

  • Patent number: 4599952
Abstract: The flue gases, which are generated in a combustion chamber through combustion of solid fuels, particularly under increased pressure, are cleared of dust in a dust removal device which consists of a plurality of tubular ceramic filter elements open at one side. These filter elements are suspended in a plate, which represents the ceiling of the combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 4600157
Abstract: A bowl mill has a vertical mechanism to drive a milling bowl and a hot-air supply to an air box positioned below the bowl. An evacuator is positioned in the air box to prevent the box from overflowing when the mill shuts down suddenly. The evacuator has a drive mechanism that is separate from and independent of the mechanism that drives the mill.

  • Patent number: 4575332
Abstract: To allow liquid and/or gaseous fuels to be burned with decreased NO.sub.x formation, the combustion air is fed in at axial intervals one after the other. The percentage of primary air is higher than that of secondary air. The injector effect of the primary air draws flue gas out of the firebox and supplies it to a flame-initiation point between the primary-air and secondary-air feeds.

  • Patent number: 4552097
Abstract: A steam generator arranged as a single-pass boiler with a stationary fluidized-bed hearth and a superimposed ash-circulating system. The fluidized bed is divided into several individually controllable sections to which, in each instance, there is associated a belt-charging machine, an ash separation and ash return system, and a secondary air feed line.

  • Patent number: 4548386
Abstract: A gate valve having two wedge-shaped disks that are suspended on a shaft and have sealing surfaces. The disks form an angle of 2.degree.-10.degree. to the shaft. The mutually facing sides of the disks are supported on a non-resilient ring with conical or spherical faces that rest against corresponding mating surfaces. The ring is positioned at the level of the sealing surfaces. The conical faces, or the secants of the spherical segment that form the conical faces, are at an angle of 15.degree.-50.degree. to the longitudinal axis of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4545727
Abstract: A mill with an impeller in which blades are mounted between two disks, and each blade has a leading edge projecting into the cross-section of the inlet. The leading edge of every other one of the blades is perpendicular to the axis of the impeller, and the leading edge of the remaining blades on the impeller are skewed. The blades on the impeller alternate in sequence along the circumference of the impeller so that each blade with leading edge perpendicular to the impeller axis is adjacently neighbored on each side with blades having skewed leading edges. The alternative sequence of the blades reduce wear on the blades by a predetermined amount for increasing the operating life of the blades.

  • Patent number: 4546281
Abstract: An armature has a closure that can be displaced along an ascending spindle in a housing. The spindle is connected by means of a spindle sleeve accommodated in the valve housing and a transition bushing fastened to the spindle sleeve with an electric-motor adjusting mechanism. A stroke-limiting nut is screwed onto the spindle. There are an intermediate cover and a spring element between the transition bushing and the spindle sleeve. The transition bushing and the intermediate cover can be displaced along the spindle.

  • Patent number: 4534299
Abstract: Wet ash removal equipment in which a trough is filled with quenching water. An immersion member attached to the ash funnel is immersed into the quenching water. A side wall of the trough is sealed by a plate. The plate is supported upon a height-adjustable rod linkage and is guided in its movement on the side of the trough arrangements of rollers.

  • Patent number: 4520762
Abstract: An economizer is connected to the highest point of the evaporator by an evaporation pipe provided with a valve, in order to operate a forced flow-through steam generator at low costs. During re-filling of the economizer with a small quantity of feed water, the steam formed during shutdown due to stored heat, can escape into the vapor space above the water level when the valves are open.

  • Patent number: 4501430
Abstract: Means of sealing off the inside of a pulverizer, especially a bowl-mill pulverizer that has a horizontal rotating bowl-type grinding ring rigidly connected to a shaft, from the outside atmosphere. The means comprise a barrier-air chamber and ring seals in a ring-seal holder. The ring seals are slide rings that fit into grooves. They demarcate the barrier-air chamber. The ring seal on the side of the chamber that faces the inside of the pulverizer does not fit as tightly against its opposing surface (the shaft in one embodiment) as those on the other side.

  • Patent number: 4441720
Abstract: A sealing arrangement between rotating and stationary parts of grinding mills, particularly those operated at pressure above atmospheric. A barrier air chamber is connected through a gap with the interior space of the mill. The flow direction of barrier air to the chamber is directed downwardly within the gap. The barrier air has a pressure exceeding the pressure of carrier gas for preventing passage of the carrier gas together with coal dust toward the outside. The width of the gap is adjustable, and the flow direction of the barrier air may also be oblique downwards within the gap. The gap at the same time, may be formed by an obliquely extending guide portion.
