  • Patent number: 6998569
Abstract: To regulate a laser welding process, an optical sensor detects the seam flank angle and/or the seam position of the laser welded seam directly following its formation, the resulting actual measured information is compared with stored or externally provided nominal information to give a comparison result, and the position of the welding laser beam source is adjusted based on the comparison result to regulate-out any divergence between the actual measured information and the nominal information. The apparatus includes a laser welding device including a welding laser beam source that moves along the joint to be welded, an optical sensor arranged directly on or following the laser welding device, and a circuit including a comparator that compares the actual measured information with the stored or externally provided nominal information regarding the seam flank angle and/or the seam position.

  • Patent number: 6996959
Abstract: An envelope-filling station for mail-processing systems. The station includes an enclosure feeder for transporting enclosures to an inserting arrangement pushing enclosures into envelopes in the same direction as the enclosure feeder. An envelope supply is positioned parallel to the enclosure feeding device. Envelopes are diagonally transported from the envelope supply to the inserting arrangement by an intermediate transport. A movable stop, in an active state, holds an envelope received in position for insertion of enclosures. When the movable stop is changed to an inactive state the filled envelope can be conveyed away from the envelope-filing station. The movable stop has a further intermediate stop position in which the stop is moved back, by a comparatively small distance in relation to the push-in movement, such that, under the driving frictional action of the intermediate envelope-conveying device, the filled envelope comes free of the push-in arrangement in the push-in direction.

  • Patent number: 6999906
Abstract: The invention relates to a reconfiguration method designed to be implemented in a computer system, for compensating failures of a sensor system (1). The sensor system includes at least one sensor (2, 50) for measuring (12, 22) system states of an application system (11, 21) and at least one system model (4) for describing the application system, which together form at least one first observer (6) for estimating system states in order to provide system states for an allocated data processing device (14, 24). According to the method, failure states for a first observer are determined from deviations, which occur as a result of the comparison between a number of states measured by the sensor or sensors and a state estimated by the system model.

  • Publication number: 20060029465
Abstract: A flexible clamping insert for adapting the clamping contour of a clamping device to correspond to an outer contour of a bicycle frame. The clamping insert includes a mounting section, a pivoting section and a biasing section connecting the mounting section and the pivoting section. The clamping insert is formed as one piece from a flexible material. The mounting section includes at least one attachment feature for securing the mounting section to a fixed clamping arm of the clamping device. The mounting and pivoting sections have a concave contour and the biasing section has a convex, resulting in the clamping insert, in the uninstalled state, having a C-shaped contour. When installed on the clamping device, the biasing section biases the pivoting section toward an open position, resulting in the pivoting arm to open and allow the clamping insert and device to be mounted on to the bicycle frame.

  • Patent number: 6994109
Abstract: A fitting for measuring the flow rate of a hydraulic medium through a pipeline having a cylindrical fitting housing with a main flow channel includes a flow meter device with a measuring element and an indicator element. A side chamber is formed in a side connecting piece of the fitting housing. The flow meter device is arranged in the opening of the side connecting piece closing it off to the outside. In a measuring bore that forms the forward flow to the side chamber, a rebounding plate of the measuring element is arranged, which is connected by an indicator rod with an indicator of the indicator element. The main flow channel between intake bore and the outlet bore of the fitting is formed by the measuring bore that leads into the side chamber, the side chamber itself, as well as a transverse bore that adjoins the side chamber. As a result, the entire flow of the main channel runs through the side connecting piece with the measuring bore and the side chamber.

  • Publication number: 20060022093
Abstract: Described is an interconnection system, in particular for flaps which are located side-by-side, on an aircraft wing, for example landing flaps or high-lift flaps. The interconnection system is in particular characterised in that it comprises a correspondingly guided compensating profile for a gap between the flaps, which gap changes when the flaps are moved. Preferably, the interconnection system is combined with a failsafe device for adjacent flaps in the form of a longitudinally adjustable interconnection strut which is connected to the adjacent flaps by way of corresponding load introduction fittings. The interconnection system is in particular suitable for large aircraft in which the gap between adjacent flaps, due to the relatively large lateral movement of the flaps during retraction and extension, becomes relatively wide, and the forces acting on the flaps are relatively great.

  • Patent number: 6993320
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for accessing a telecommunication network and for billing telecommunication services, whereby there are presented new processes, as compared to those of classical mechanisms of network providers, services are offered to their customers and fees are charged for providing the same. In this context the invention primarily concerns novel access mechanisms and access media to a telecommunications network, modified security mechanisms as well as innovative counting methods. The invention is characterized in that authentication methods are used in the telecommunication network, which permit a subscriber to certify at any one freely choosable point in time that a payment for a service which has been solicited or which is to be solicited, is provided or has already been provided.

  • Publication number: 20060018456
Abstract: In a call-centre, external telephone calls form customers are distributed to terminals so that they can be answered by agents. The invention relates to a method for operating a call-centre, wherein an external call is initially connected to a free terminal. If an interruption in the conversation occurs, a message recorded by the agent is stored and the connection is allocated automatically. The call is transferred to a separate waiting line. The caller can initialise a new connection to a free terminal i.e. to the same terminal or to a different agent. During the new connection, the message belonging to the waiting connection is automatically played back, whereby the interrupted conversation with the client can be continued in a problem free manner. The inventive method increases the productivity of the call-centres without changing the high level of service.

  • Patent number: 6988973
Abstract: A multi-speed gear hub that includes a hub shaft, a hub sleeve mounted about the hub shaft and at least one planetary gear mechanism for providing a plurality of transmission paths. A bearing is mounted about the hub shaft such that an annular gap is created between the bearing and the hub shaft. A transmission sleeve is disposed in an annular gap for introducing a rotational shift movement into the interior of the gear hub. The configuration of the transmission element does not limit the rotation of the transmission and thus the shifting travel or the shifting angle for each gear ratio is not limited.
