  • Patent number: 5482661
Abstract: In molding bonded plastics material, in particular expanded or foamable polystyrene in combination with rigid sheet polystyrene, the rigid material (2) is firstly preformed in a preforming mold (33, 36) while simultaneously separating by a cutter (40) the preformed portion from the rigid sheet of starting material, the preformed portion is transferred (27) to the molding stage (3) while contained in a preforming half-mold (33), foamable material (44) is fed to and is molded onto the preformed portion with sintering and the pulse action of steam (45), and the molded portion (P) is discharged (6). The preforming half-mold (33) is moved alternately between the preforming position (1) and the molding position (3), and cooperates with respective counter-molds (36,41). The scrap is recovered without being involved in the molding stage.

  • Patent number: 5460497
Abstract: In a machine for moulding of composite plastic material, in particular of foamed polystyrene coupled with rigid polystyrene sheet, the rigid material (2) is preformed at a performing station, with the preformed portion being simultaneously separated from the starting material, and the preformed shaped portion is transferred from the preforming station to a moulding station, in which the foamed material is moulded by sintering and pulsed steam action on the preformed rigid material. The resulting piece is brought back to the preforming station (1) and a further portion of rigid material (2) is preformed on the foamed material, and this portion is then thermoset inside the moulding mould (3) on the foamed material, thus generating an article with two opposite surfaces made of a rigid material, between which the foamed material is sandwiched.

Abstract: A machine for molding bonded plastics material, in particular expanded or foamable polystyrene in combination with rigid sheet polystyrene, wherein the rigid material (2) is preformed in a preforming station (1) in a preforming mold (33, 36) while simultaneously separating by a cutter (40) the preformed portion from the rigid sheet of starting material to produce separate preformed pieces, the preformed pieces are moved by a transfer table (27) to a molding station (3) while retained on preforming half-mold (33), foamable material (44) is fed to molding mold (41) and molded and bonded on the preformed pieces with sintering by pulse action of steam (45) and, the final molded articles (P) are discharged at discharge station (6). The half-mold (33) is moved alternately between the preforming station (1) and molding station (3), and cooperates with respective counter-molds (36, 41). The scrap is recovered without being involved in the molding stage.

  • Patent number: 4698001
Abstract: A machine for the manufacturing of moulded articles of plastic material, in particular of helmets for motor cyclists, includes at least two moulds and at least a counter-mould for the forming of the articles, the moulds and counter-mould(s) defining between themselves moulding cavities of different shapes. The moulds and the counter-moulds, excepting the first one, are each connected with a feeder of a different plastic material, and the moulds can be moved into alignment with the counter-moulds, for the moulding of respective superimposed layers of different plastic materials by sintering with steam. One mould is suitable to be positioned in correspondence of a zone of unloading of the article produced while at least another mould is in its forming position.
