Abstract: A coffin comprises a frame and a cover layer formed from a plurality of strands of a first material interlaced with a plurality of strands of a second material. The cover layer is attached to the frame by the second material to form a recess for receiving a cadaver. The cover layer is a woven cover layer comprising weft strands formed of the first material warp strands formed of the second material. Each of a plurality of the strands of the second material pass through at least one through hole provided in the frame, thereby to secure the cover layer to the frame.
