  • Patent number: 4651981
Abstract: A force limiter to be interposed between an actuator and a device to be moved by the actuator to limit the force applied by the actuator. The force limited has a body having a chamber and open at at least one end. There is a piston slidable within the body. A piston rod extends from the piston through, and slidable within, the open end of the body. Resilient members such as Belleville washers are positioned in the chamber between the piston and an end of the chamber away from the piston. The resilient members are calibrated to provide the necessary force limit and are able to apply that force limit in both directions of movement of the actuator. The force limiter can be attached to the actuator.

  • Patent number: 4612089
Abstract: Apparatus to reduce pressure pulsations in a pipe line. The apparatus comprises a central pipe to be connected to the pipe line. There is a resilient liner within the central pipe and an intermediate chamber is substantially concentric with the central pipe and open at each end. An opening in the central pipe is closed by the liner. Pressure variations in the central pipe are thus communicated to the intermediate chamber, which is attached to the central pipe. There is an outer chamber, closed at each end and substantially concentric with the intermediate chamber, and able to maintain a selected pressure.

  • Patent number: 4444622
Abstract: A steam distributor for applying steam to a paper sheet moving beneath it and spaced from the distributor. The distributor has a leading edge and a trailing edge relative to the sheet movement. There is a header for steam extending along the leading edge. At least one opening formed in the header enables steam to be directed towards the sheet. The steam so directed forms a curtain to eliminate air entrained by the sheet.

  • Patent number: 3945570
Abstract: A steam supply apparatus. At least a first and second pipe are located in spaced apart, side by side relationship. A cover member extends longitudinally between the pipes and is secured to them. A bottom wall is spaced below the cover member and extends longitudinally of the pipes and is secured to them. The pipes, cover member and bottom wall form between them a steam chamber. End members close the steam chamber near opposite ends of the pipes. There are steam outlet means in the bottom wall that extend substantially the length of the chamber between the pipes. There are means for supplying steam to the pipes. Each pipe has a plurality of apertures arranged longitudinally of the pipe to maintain the interior of the steam pipes in communication with the steam chamber. The pipes are adapted to extend across a surface against which steam is to be directed through the outlet means and to support the steam chamber above the surface.

  • Patent number: RE28968
Abstract: A steam supply apparatus includes at least two pipes located in spaced apart, side by side relationship, and a cover member extending across the pipes and secured thereto. End members are secured to the respective opposite ends of the pipes, and a pair of baffles between each pair of pipes are secured thereto in a substantially V-shaped configuration with a slot between adjacent ends of the baffles at the base of the V-shape, the base of the V-shape being directed towards the cover member. Steam is supplied to the pipes, and each pipe has a series of apertures communicating the interior of the pipe with the space between the pipes, the cover member and the baffles.
