Abstract: A level includes a level body having top, bottom and side walls, and a window that opens into the interior of the body. A vial is positioned within the window. The vial is carried by, and rotatable relative to, a vial mount. The vial mount and the level body include engagement structure that fixes the vial mount against movement relative to the level body. Securing members, such as screws, are movably carried by the vial mount, and are engageable with the vial in order to selectively adjust the angular position of the vial relative to the level body and to selectively fix the angular position of the vial relative to the vial mount, and thereby relative to the level body.

A level vial, which is secured to a vial mount, is positioned within the window opening. A vial retainer is secured within the interior of the level body, and includes a lower portion engaged with the bottom wall and upper portions engaged with the upper wall on either side of the window opening. The vial mount is secured to the vial retainer to secure the vial in a position in which the vial is visible from the exterior of the level body through the window. A vial position adjustment arrangement is provided for adjusting the position of the vial relative to the level body when the vial mount is secured to the vial retainer.

Abstract: A level having a main body with a top surface, a bottom surface, and a pair of side surfaces extending therebetween, and a full-width binding member engaged with the main body and overlying at least one of the top and bottom surfaces. The binding member includes a main binding wall and a pair of spaced apart arms extending from the main binding wall. Each side surface of the main body includes a longitudinally extending indentation extending inwardly from the side surface at a location spaced from the surface over which the binding member is positioned Each of the spaced apart arms includes an engagement member secured within one of the axially extending indentations. The level may include a pair of full-width binding members, one of which overlies the top surface of the main body and the other of which overlies the bottom surface of the main body.
