  • Publication number: 20110283901
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for regulating the temperature of a hot isostatic press and to a hot isostatic press, comprising a pressure container (1) having an interior horizontal loading space (19) and insulation (8) arranged in between, wherein heating elements (4) and a loading space (19) having a load (18) are arranged inside the insulation (8), wherein at least one rotational flow (23) is developed actively or passively inside the pressure container (1), in addition to at least one existing natural or activated convection flow for heating or cooling or for maintaining a temperature level. An independent hot isostatic press or one suitable for said method is characterized in that active and/or passive means for developing a rotational flow (23), occurring substantially at an angle to the convection flow, are arranged in the pressure container (1).

  • Patent number: 7393480
Abstract: A continuously operating press for the continuous manufacture of wood material boards having a textured surface on at least one side includes: an upper frame part and a lower frame part; two endless steel belts configured to draw a mat of material through the continuously operating press and to transfer press pressure, each steel belt associated with one of the upper frame part and the lower frame part; an endless metal mesh belt associated with a corresponding one of the steel belts; an insulating tunnel associated with the metal mesh belt and the corresponding steel belt; and a heating tunnel associated with the metal mesh belt and separated from the corresponding steel belt. The metal mesh belt includes a material having a thermal conductivity substantially higher than that of the corresponding steel belt and having a thermal expansion coefficient approximately equal to that of the corresponding steel belt.

  • Patent number: 7264763
Abstract: A method for the manufacture of compacts from comminuted material (12) such as lignocellulose material and/or other combustible material for burning in hearths, wherein the material (12) is placed into openings (11) of a mold (4) and then compressed to form compacts. The filling of a mold (4) with the material (12) and the compaction of the material (10) to form compacts (10) is performed in the pressing chamber (18) of a multi-platen press (1) with plungers (7) plunging into many openings (11) of a mold (4), and after compaction the mold (4) with the ram (3) is raised and additionally urged against the ram, while the finished compacts are driven out of the mold and then are pushed out of the press chamber (18) into a container (16) by an ejecting device. Moreover, an installation for the practice of the method includes a hopper (9) and a multi-platen press (1) with a mold raising-and-lowering device (14).

  • Patent number: 7220375
Abstract: A method and a multi-platen press for the practice of the process for the manufacture of wood material boards, especially OSB boards, in which an endless mat is formed from a wood chip and binding agent mixture. The mat is introduced between the heated press platens of a multi-platen press, the press platens have steam openings directed at the mat and by steam and contact heat from press platens they are heated, pressed and cured into wood material boards. The mat, formed from a wood chip and phenolic resin mixture, is introduced into the level(s) of a single-stage or multi-stage press and deposited therein. After a light precompression, the introduction of a small amount of steam with a low steam temperature takes place through the press platens only in the cover layers of the mat. The mat is quickly compressed and cured to the end thickness of the board.

  • Patent number: 6885198
Abstract: A testing device tests a mat that is moved in one direction and that is made of biomass particles for manufacturing boards. On one side of the mat, radiation sources are positioned with a transversely spaced-apart relationship transverse to the direction of motion. On the other side of the mat, a line of detector elements is arranged beneath each of the radiation sources. A fan-shaped beam impinges on said detector elements. The beam passes either through one standard body, through the mat, or through neither the standard body nor the mat and is received by the detector elements and converted into electric output signals. The output signals are transferred via lines to an evaluating circuit that controls a device for removing mat portions that contain unwanted matter or the weight per unit area of which is too low.

  • Publication number: 20040250900
Abstract: Elongated strands, particularly wood strands, are deposited on a molding belt or a conveyor belt so that the strands are longitudinally oriented relative to each other for manufacturing panels known as oriented strand boards. For this purpose the strands are discharged onto an alignment mechanism or head that has a plurality of rotation shafts each carrying a plurality of disks axially spaced from one another along the respective shaft. These disks form alignment channels when the shafts rotate. Each channel or channel section is further subdivided into strand alignment chambers by a plurality of paddle elements. Preferably four such paddle elements are mounted to the respective rotation shaft between two neighboring disks thereby forming four pass through chambers between two neighboring disks.
