  • Patent number: 9766321
Abstract: A radio frequency locator system and method. First, second and third reference devices are operable to transmit a plurality of spread spectrum chirp signals frequency offset from one another. An object device is operable to receive the plurality of spread spectrum chirp signals, the object device is further operable to evaluate the received plurality of spread spectrum chirp signals for relative phase shifts between the plurality of spread spectrum chirp signals and derive a fine propagation time between the reference devices and the object device using the phase shifts between the spread spectrum chirp signals. The reference devices determine their location independent of the object device and determine the location of the object device as a function of each of their locations and of their range to the object device.

  • Patent number: 9712893
Abstract: A sensing device monitors conditions in a local environment and wirelessly communicates those conditions. The sensing device has a sealed body comprised of a material suitable to contact food and which is cleanable for re-use. The sensing device has a condition sensor, a processor, a memory and a communication device, a motion sensor and an energy source such as a battery carried by the sealed body. The motion sensor detects motion of the sealed body and acts as a switch for the processor. The sensing device may be placed in contact with perishable food products to monitor conditions in the environment around perishable food products. Conditions of the perishable food are monitored by placing a sensor which has been activated by motion in the environment containing perishable food products and detecting, storing and transmitting information collected by the condition sensor to a receiver.

  • Patent number: 9577858
Abstract: A radio frequency communication system includes a radio frequency transmitter having a chirp generator operable to transmit a first chirp signal, and transmit a second chirp signal that is circular shifted relative to the first chirp signal. A receiver receives the first chirp signal and the second chirp signal, such that the proportion of phase offset between the first and second chirp signals is proportional to the frequency offset of the received signals. The first and second chirp signals are despread, and the phase difference between the first and second chirp signals is used to determine a frequency offset of the received first and second chirp signals that is proportional to the phase difference between the first and second chirp signals.

  • Patent number: 9565623
Abstract: Systems and methods for ordering candidates for wireless network association are provided. In certain embodiments, a wireless device, includes a processor that controls data received and data to be transmitted by the wireless device; and a memory, wherein the memory stores a short list that stores network device responses, wherein a network device response is associated with a network device in an environment of the wireless device. In certain implementations, instructions direct the processor to perform a short list search, wherein the wireless device attempts to connect to networks associated with network devices identified in the short list; and when the wireless device fails to connect with the networks associated with the network devices identified in the short list, perform an exhaustive search, wherein the wireless device attempts to connect to additional networks associated with additional network devices based on an ordered arrangement of network identifiers.

  • Patent number: 9459604
Abstract: One embodiment is directed to a method for joining a smart energy device to a ZigBee network. The method includes sending, from a ZigBee gateway to a database server, a first extended unique identifier (EUI) for the ZigBee gateway. The also method includes receiving a request from a first smart energy device to join the ZigBee gateway, the request including a second EUI corresponding to the first smart energy device. The second EUI from the first smart energy device is compared with the first one or more EUIs received from the database server. If the second EUI from the first smart energy device matches any of the first one or more EUIs, an install code or link key corresponding to the matched one of the first one or more EUIs is sent to the first smart energy device. Otherwise, an install code is requested from the user.
