Patent number: 12422492Abstract: A system and method for monitoring and controlling a plurality of marine seismic devices deployed in a survey operation. A battery monitoring device associated with each marine seismic device monitors one or more battery systems associated with each respective marine seismic device. Each battery monitoring device generates battery data associated with a condition of each battery system and communicates the battery data to a central processor. The central processor analysis the data and identifies individual battery systems or individual marine seismic devices that have anomalous conditions. The anomalous conditions include a battery depletion rate above a threshold or a battery life shorter than the remaining duration of the survey operation.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2025Date of Patent: September 23, 2025Assignee: DigiCOURSE, LLCInventor: Felix Ernest Bircher

Patent number: 12320940Abstract: A transducer assembly for attachment to a marine device for use in marine seismic applications. The transducer assembly includes an attachment portion attachable to the marine device and a transducer portion attachable to the attachment portion. The attachment portion is fabricated with a relative larger diameter and of a first material selected for strength, while the transducer portion of the transducer assembly is fabricated with a relative reduced diameter of a second material selected to minimize interference with acoustic signals propagating to or from the transducer portion. The reduced diameter of the transducer portion reduces the incidence and magnitude of drag during the marine seismic applications and minimizes the negative effects of drag on the results of the marine seismic application. The second material of the transducer portion is selected to have an acoustic impedance that minimizes interference with the operation of a transducer positioned within the transducer portion.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2025Date of Patent: June 3, 2025Assignee: DigiCOURSE, LLCInventor: Felix Ernest Bircher

Patent number: 12043356Abstract: Embodiments herein describe techniques for controlling both a vessel and a separate controllable steering element so that a towed device moves along a predefined path or course. A steering system can include a first controller for steering the vessel and a second controller for controlling the steering element, which is in the water and also being towed by the vessel. In one embodiment, the steering system controls the vessel to ensure the steering element does not exceed a control limit.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2020Date of Patent: July 23, 2024Assignee: DigiCOURSE, LLCInventors: Felix Ernest Bircher, Dale Lambert, Nicholas Domingo Muguira, David A. Patent number: 11940796Abstract: A control system provides steering control commands to a steering actuator of a steering device on a piece of towed marine equipment. A memory in the control system stores setpoint data including positional values for a desired position of the piece of towed marine equipment. A control module is configured to receive the setpoint data, receive process data representing a calculated actual position of the piece of towed marine equipment; and calculate a control command for the steering actuator of the steering device based upon the setpoint data and the process data. A disturbance adjustment calculation module is configured to combine a disturbance value based upon a measured disturbance with a value of the process data and output a disturbance adjustment value. A correction calculator module adds the disturbance adjustment value to the control command to create an adjusted control command for transmission to the steering actuator.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2019Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: DigiCourse, LLCInventor: Dale J. Patent number: 11878771Abstract: A foil system is used with a towed marine cable array to provide downward, upward or lateral lift to the array. The foil system can be coupled with the cable and configured to bias the submerged payload toward a target position. The foil system can include a group of foil sections each having a leading edge collectively defining an angle of attack, and a group of through-cables supporting the group of foil sections within the foil system. A subset of through-cables of the group of through-cables are arranged through front halves of the group of foil sections. This subset of through-cables can be selectively tensionable, and manipulatable to define a tensioned one of the subset of through-cables as being offset from a chord that is defined between the leading edge and a trailing edge of any of the foil sections. The foil system can thus induce one or more angles of attack for the group of foil sections, based on a rotational constraint defined by the tensioned one of the through-cables.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2020Date of Patent: January 23, 2024Assignee: DigiCourse, LLCInventors: Erin Martin, Daniel George Martin
