Abstract: Systems and methods are provided allowing two or more electronic devices that each operate under different protocols to communicate. In one embodiment, a gateway component is configured to convert electronic signals or messages using a first protocol to messages or electronic signals in another protocol. In one such embodiment, the gateway may asynchronously transmit converted communications between an electronic device and a host, without neither the electronic device nor the host device being aware of the gateway component and without noticeable delay in operation of the electronic device. In another embodiment, the system may include a component utilizing a first protocol to communicate with the electronic device and another component using a second protocol to communicate with a host device.
