Abstract: A self-defense device having a handle, a spool and a line. One end of the line is secured to the handle while the other end of the line is secured to the spool. As assembled, the line is coiled around the spool and the spool is inserted through an opening of the handle. One end of the spool is sized to abut the handle while the other end of the spool is sized and configured extend within the opening and be releasably secured therein. To deploy the device, a user grasps the handle and releases the spool from engagement therewith thereby allowing gravity to unwind the line from the spool.
