Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards providing supplemental content to a viewer based on the viewer's environment while the viewer is viewing content. Content is provided to a content receiver for presentation to the viewer. While the viewer is viewing the content, an image of the viewer's environment is captured and analyzed to detect the context of the environment. Supplemental content is selected based on this detected context and presented to the viewer, which allows the supplemental content to be tailored to the viewer. One or more additional images of the viewer's environment are captured while the viewer is viewing the supplemental content and the context of the viewer's environment emotion while the viewer is viewing the supplemental content is detected. This subsequent context is analyzed to determine if the viewer had an expected response to the supplemental content, which can be used to determine the efficiency of the supplemental content.

Abstract: Technologies disclosed herein are provided for irrigation monitoring and controlling based on water usage monitoring and control using an efficiency model for a defined geographic region. The technology includes receiving a first and a second set of moisture sensor measurements from a set of moisture sensors located in a defined geographic region, and determining an amount of water that is applied to the defined geographic region at a time period between the first and the second set of moisture measurements. An efficiency model representing efficiencies of locations in the defined geographic region is obtained based on the first and second set of moisture measurements and the amount of water applied. Schedule information is generated based on the efficiency model that indicates time periods at which areas in the defined geographic region are to be watered.

A first multimedia device may determine that a bandwidth of a second multimedia device in the networked environment falls below a threshold bandwidth, indicating that the second multimedia device may process instructions and render multimedia information with increased latency or delay. Based on this determination, the first multimedia device may forward instructions from the second multimedia device to the processing offloader for the processing offloader to process and render multimedia information on behalf of the second multimedia device based on the received instructions. The first multimedia device may forward rendered multimedia information from the processing offloader to the second multimedia device, and the second multimedia device may output the rendered multimedia information to an output device.

The memory stores instructions executable by the processor such that the processor is programmed to identify, based on user data a reference time. The processor is further programmed to send, via a human-machine interface included in the mobile device, a message to a user to input a user request to download a media content item prior to the reference time. The processor is further programmed to receive the user request to download the media content item and download the media content item from a media device.

Abstract: Content receiver systems, methods, and machine-readable media to facilitate adaptive voice interaction are disclosed. An audio cue may be detected and mapped to a first viewer in proximity of an audio sensor. Sensor-based data that is based on the audio sensor capturing audio phenomena in the proximity may be received. A set of rules specified by an operations protocol may be accessed. The set of rules may include criteria for mapping a recognition of voice data to operations of a content receiver. The sensor-based data may correspond to a recognition of first voice data of the first viewer. A rule of the set of rules may be used to map the sensor-based data to an operation of the content receiver. Responsive to the audio cue, the content receiver may be caused to perform the operation.

Abstract: Systems, and methods are described for navigating non-dynamic pages at a client device served up from voice search requests by selecting a feature on the image page by a user request for navigating the feature viewed on the image page wherein the feature selected has an appearance of a dynamic feature when served up on the display wherein the user request selects a location on the image page; identifying the feature by the voice cloud server by location data of a selected location on the page; executing a feature request on a corresponding page which contains dynamic script at the voice cloud server to receive a linked page from a third-party search service; and removing dynamic scripts, at the voice cloud search server, of the linked page for serving up as an image page of the linked page at the client device.

Abstract: Various arrangements for wireless network provisioning using a pre-shared key (PSK) are presented. A plurality of wireless network access profiles that indicate a plurality of PSKs may be stored. An access point may receive, from a wireless device, a first value based at on the PSK. The access point can transmit the first value to a cloud-based provisioning system. A plurality of values based on the plurality of PSKs of the plurality of wireless network access profiles may be created and a match between a second value of the plurality of values and the transmitted first value may be identified. A third value may be provided to the access point based on the PSK of the wireless network access profile of the plurality of wireless network access profiles used to generate the value. Network access can then be granted based on the third value.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards selecting content search results based on the age of the viewer. The content receiver receives search criteria for a viewer, which may include the age of the viewer. The content receiver obtains search results from a search of a plurality of content. The search results are prioritized based on the age of the viewer and presented to the viewer. In this way, searching for “dog” for a four year-old may provide or prioritize different results compared to search for “dog” for an eight year-old.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to provide voice search in an elastic cloud environment communicating with a set-top box (STB) by receiving by a voice cloud search server pulse-code modulation (PCM) audio packets transmitted from the STB; sending the PCM audio packets to a natural language processing (NLP) service for converting to text; sending the text sets to an elastic voice cloud search server for querying an electronic program guide (EPG) service, channel and program data associated with the text set wherein the EPG service to at least return identified channel and program data; in response to an identified return of channel and television program data, sending sets of text to a third-party search service for performing an independent search for related data and returning search results of video and image content which is then stripped of dynamic scripts to return to the STB.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and machine-readable media for containerizing and adapting content items for delivery in a packet stream from a content provider system via one or more networks to an endpoint media device are disclosed. A content composite may be created for delivery in a packet stream from a content provider system to an endpoint media device. A containerization object may be configured with a container flag that indicates a content item and containerization specifications to facilitate performance of operations by the endpoint media device with respect to the content item. The content composite may be transmitted in accordance with composite transmission specifications. The endpoint media device may perform the operations facilitated by the containerization object of the content composite.

The scanning station is configured to measure a length “L”, height “H”, and/or width “W” of a substantially square box having a top, a bottom, two sides, and two edge portions. The edge opening station is configured to perform perforation operations on at least one of the two edge portions. A complete box opening system may include the scanning station, edge opening station, conveyor, and at least one of a top opening station and a side opening station.

A host-neutral gateway device can include a plurality of local wireless communication interfaces that communicate with a plurality of sets of wireless devices. The host-neutral gateway device can include a plurality of long-range wireless communication interfaces that communicate with one or more remote server systems. The host-neutral gateway device can be programmed to execute a plurality operator-specific applications. Each operator-specific application may be mapped to a corresponding set of wireless devices of the plurality of sets of wireless devices.

Abstract: A system for automatically selecting television channels based on wager information can include a set-top box, wager databases having user wager information, broadcast databases having broadcast schedule information, and a controller. The wager information can include an event identifier and a corresponding wager amount. The broadcast schedule can include a channel, a start time, and an end time for each event. The controller can include processors and memory devices having instructions that cause the processors to obtain wager information for the user from the wager databases, match each event identifier and corresponding wager amount to the broadcast schedule, determine a set of live events by comparing a current time with the start time and end time for each event, prioritize the live events based on wager amount, and send an instruction to the set-top box to display the channel corresponding to each live event in order of priority.

Abstract: A system for controlling turning on and off of closed captioning receives information regarding a program content stream and automatically determines whether to turn on or off closed captioning based on thresholds being crossed regarding an estimated current loudness level of ambient noise and an estimated current loudness level of the audio of the program content stream. The estimated current loudness level of audio of the program content stream is, or is based on, one or more indications of current volume level in an audio signal representing the audio of the program content stream and current audio settings of a device outputting the audio of the program content stream. The system may estimate the loudness level of the ambient noise by use of a loudness meter that causes the ambient noise to be sampled with a microphone and a decibel level of the sampled ambient noise to be determined.

Abstract: Various arrangements for updating a device utilizing an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) are presented. A backend system may detect a triggering event associated with a device based upon data received via a first connection. In response to detecting the first triggering event, the UAV may receive a first data set and a location associated with the device from the backend system. The UAV may deploy to the received location. A second connection between the UAV and the device can be established at the received location. The UAV may transmit the first data set to the device via the second connection at the received location.

Abstract: Various arrangements for monitoring the unauthorized use of a vehicle are presented. An in-space parking sensor may be used to detect whether a vehicle is present. Data may be obtained indicating that a particular vehicle parking in the parking space that has the in-space parking sensor. A vehicle departure from the parking space may be detected. A determination may be made that departure of the particular vehicle has occurred during the time period. A notification may be output based on determining that the vehicle departure has occurred.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and processes are described for seamless use of timers across multiple user devices on a LAN. A system may include a first user device, communicatively coupled to the LAN, having at least one first tuner and a first hardware processor configured for facilitating a first timer manager. A second user device communicatively coupled to the LAN may include at least one second tuner and a second hardware processor configured for facilitating a second timer manager. Each of the first timer manager and the second timer manager may be configured to populate a universal timer schedule that identifies at least one of a future availability and a future use for each of the at least one first tuner and the at least one second tuner. The universal timer schedule is populated based upon a request type, such as an auto-tune, PPV, original content, re-run, and a Joey request type.

Abstract: A method of providing a synchronized secondary audio track via a mobile device. The method includes: receiving, at a mobile device, a request from a user to receive a secondary audio track that corresponds with a primary audio track of an audio-visual (AV) program which is presented to the user; receiving the secondary audio track at the mobile device; receiving at the mobile device a playback-control cue; and in response to receiving the playback-control cue, outputting audio data of the secondary audio track so that the audio data is synchronized with the primary audio track.
