  • Patent number: 6433762
Abstract: A method for driving a plasma display panel comprises the steps of reset, scanning and sustaining discharge. The plasma display panel has display lines comprising SCANNING and SUSTAINING electrodes disposed in parallel with each other, and addressing electrodes extending orthogonally to the SCANNING and SUSTAINING electrodes. The method is characterized in that the step of sustaining discharge is carried out by alternately applying a first driving pulse to the two SCANNING electrodes of each pair of the neighboring display lines and a second driving pulse to the two SUSTAINING electrodes of each pair of the neighboring display lines so that each two of the neighboring electrodes of two respective display lines are identical in polarity during the sustaining discharge.

  • Patent number: 6395328
Abstract: A multi-color electroluminescent display has a plurality of discrete, laterally spaced areas of light emitting material formed over respective groups of first and second electrode regions. The light emissive material over each group is capable of emitting radiation of a different color. The multi-colored device is formed by a sequence of steps where each emitting layer is deposited as. a precursor which is susceptible to patterning and which is then converted into its polymer which is not susceptible to subsequent patterning steps. This allows a second color to be deposited on top of a first color, the second color being patterned while avoiding damage to the first color below it.

  • Patent number: 6388643
Abstract: A method of driving a plasma display. Generally speaking, one frame comprises several sub-frames, each of which is displayed by one reset operation, one scan operation and a sustain operation in this driving method, the screen of the plasma display is first divided into a plurality of sub-regions. Then the controller sequentially performs the reset operation, the scanning operation and the sustain operation on these sub-regions. In the driving process, the sustain operation on one of the sub-regions is synchronized with the scan operation of another one of the sub-regions that is subsequently processed, thereby increasing the period of the sustain operation. In addition, the reset operation on one of the sub-regions does not overlap the scan operations and the sustain operations on others sub-regions for preventing signal interference.
