  • Patent number: 6450212
Abstract: An off-loom take-up for winding a cloth roll from woven cloth coming from a loom which includes a frame and a pair of spaced take-up rollers carried by the frame, at least one of the take-up rollers is a driven take up roller. A drive motor with an output shaft drives the driven take-up roller, and a motor controller is provided for controlling the speed of the output shaft of the drive motor. A pivotal dancer roll assembly is carried by the frame and includes a pivotal dancer roll under which the cloth travels from the loom to the cloth take-up roll. A voltage sensor responsive to the movement of the pivotal dancer roll outputs a plurality of voltage signals correlated to a plurality of different pivotal positions of the dancer roll. An electronic limit processor is provided for receiving the voltage signals, the processor processing the voltage signals to generate a control signal which is output to the motor controller for controlling the drive motor.

  • Patent number: 6082281
Abstract: An arrangement of sewing successive edges of material which extend in two directions. The arrangement comprises a stationary sewing table having a prescribed sewing area. The sewing table supports a carriage. A sewing machine is supported by the carriage. Drives are provided for the carriage and the sewing machine and are operative to move the carriage selectively in the X and Y directions while operating the sewing machine to sew. A material feeding assembly having an independent drive is provided to feed material into the sewing area and to maintain the fed material in the sewing area in a flat fixed position for a prescribed period of time. A control operates to actuate the feeding assembly to position the material, to actuate the sewing machine to sew and to actuate the carriage carrying the sewing machine to move in the X and Y directions about the sewing area forming automatically a folded fabric having all edges stitched.

  • Patent number: 5540166
Abstract: A fabric conveying, aligning and fabricating system comprising a table having a support surface having a length over which fabric blanks are conveyed with continuous and uninterrupted movement. Conveyors are associated with the table which are adapted to convey successive fabric blanks over the support surface. Fabric blank aligning apparatus is arranged intermediate the support surface length and includes steering apparatus operable to steer a longitudinal edge of the fabric blank. Edge sensing apparatus is operative to sense the location of the longitudinal edge of the fabric blank relative to a fixed reference during its movement over the support surface. The edge sensing apparatus is operative to actuate the edge steering apparatus which acts continuously to positively steer the longitudinal edge along the fixed reference during the movement of the fabric blank through the aligning apparatus. The aligning apparatus also includes fabric blank end control apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5415207
Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling the drive of an off loom take-up which winds cloth upon a cloth roll is disclosed. The off loom take up comprises a pair of spaced, driven take-up rollers upon which the cloth roll is supported and rotated. As cloth coming from the loom is directed to the cloth roll being wound, it passes underneath a pivotal directional roll which is supported on spaced pivotal arms. A motor controller controls an electric motor which drives the driven take-up rollers at a preset speed which allows the cloth to travel at the directional roll at a slightly slower speed than the speed at which the cloth travels leaving the take-off rolls of the loom. This establishes a predetermined downward "creep" in the movement of the pivotal directional roll. The downward movement of the directional roll is sensed by a detector.
