Patents Assigned to Dixie Electrical Manufacturing Company
  • Patent number: 7094003
Abstract: A bracket assembly rests upon a pier set adjacent to a foundation and a secondary component elevates the bracket assembly. The bracket provides adjustable engagement to limit rotation of the bracket with respect to an installed pier. The bracket assembly has an housing, a bearing member, load transfer plates, reinforcing means, and an adjusting bolt beneath the bearing member. The housing is either two parallel plates or a tube. In the plates embodiment, two slots receive either a pin, a gate alone, or a gate with a moveable plate. In the tube embodiment, the pier fits snugly within the tube. Further, the bracket permits locating tools over the piers to reduce induced bending moment at the junction of the pier and the bracket. The bracket assembly stabilizes and lifts piers.

  • Patent number: 6050740
Abstract: A combined lockdog and Kelly bar adapter is provided for drivingly connecting a Kelly bar to a shaft of an earth anchor. The adapter includes a unitary one-piece body comprising a first section defining a first socket sized and shaped to receive a Kelly bar and a second section defining a second socket sized and shaped to receive the shaft of the earth anchor. A flange is formed in the first socket and has an inner wall having a smaller circumference than the wall of the first socket, so that the adapter can receive two different sized Kelly bars. A spring biased pin is provided to engage a hole in the earth anchor shaft to axially fix the adapter relative to the earth anchor shaft. The pin includes a sloped surface which is engaged by the earth anchor shaft, so that the adapter can be applied to the earth anchor shaft simply by sliding the adapter over the earth anchor shaft. The adapter includes a camming surface and a ring through an outer end of the pin.

  • Patent number: 5653069
Abstract: A socket drive adapter for retrofitting to a solid hub earth anchor to convert the solid hub earth anchor into a socket drive earth anchor. The socket drive adapter is formed from a trapezoidally shaped steel plate by a series of 90.degree. bends. The bends create square, bore-defining adapter that can be welded to the top surface of the helical blade around the solid hub. A drive wrench fits in the socket drive adapter and engages both the socket drive adapter and the solid hub to enhance the torque strength of the anchor while retaining the better ground penetrating aspects of the solid hub design.

  • Patent number: 5570577
Abstract: A torque controller which limits the output of a hydraulic motor is provided. The torque controller includes a by-pass circuit which allows the hydraulic fluid in the hydraulic fluid circuit to by-pass the motor. A valve manifold is placed in the by-pass and includes a main chamber having a main valve member and one (and preferably two or more) poppet valves in communication with the main chamber. The pressure at which the poppet valves and the main valve open are individually adjustable and are set for different pressures. Inlets to the poppet valves are closed with electrically operated solenoids such that the inlet to a selected poppet valve can be opened to activate that poppet valve.

  • Patent number: 4742656
Abstract: An earth anchor for embedding within the ground and incorporating a helical blade(s), having flattened side edges, intervened by rounded or arcuate corners, and connecting with its shank for securement with any driving apparatus useful for the power driving of such an earth anchor into the ground; while the shaped blade of this anchor incorporates a lineal cutting edge, and an arcuate cutting edge, that integrally blends into a segment of the lineal side edge of the blade, and which composite edges function as a compound cutting edge for driving of the earth anchor into the soil, and through the exertion of only a reduced force.

  • Patent number: 4626330
Abstract: A torsionally installed anode for galvanic corrosion protection and a combination torsionally installed anode and earth penetrator is disclosed. The anode may be screwed (i.e., torsionally installed) into the earth (e.g., the seabed, the riverbed, or the ground) so as to constitute a sacrificial anode. The anode may serve the dual purpose of protecting an underwater metallic article (e.g., a pipeline or the like) from corrosion, and of supporting the metallic article above the seabed.

  • Patent number: 4290245
Abstract: In an earth anchor for use for embedding within the ground and to acquire a secure and snug retention therein, the anchor incorporates a shank portion having a helical blade affixed thereto, the blade having a linear cutting edge positioned at a lagging angle off the perpendicular or radius from the said shank portion; said shank portion may contain one or more of the helical blades spacedly arranged there along, or have a series of shank portions that are connectible axially together to form an anchor of greater length. An end cap is designed for mounting onto the upper end of an anchor, and having reinforcing rods secured thereto, and which may act as reinforcement for a concrete pile, foundation, or the like, as poured thereon, with the anchor providing a firm base for this type of constructed structure.

  • Patent number: 4280768
Abstract: An anchor drive coupler for use in interconnecting an earth anchor with the drive mechanism used for embedding the anchor deeply into the ground, the coupler includes a sleeve, having upper and lower closure plates rigidly secured therewith, and an adapter connects with the upper plate for securement of the coupler with the drive mechanism, while the upper portion of the earth anchor is pinned to the said sleeve or a lower adapter secured therewith, for furnishing interconnection between the drive mechanism and the earth anchor so that driving torque will be transmitted for effecting a deep penetration of the anchor into the ground during its installation.
