Abstract: An active composition delivery system having a water-soluble top layer, a water-soluble bottom layer, and an active composition disposed therebetween. The water-soluble top and bottom layers are joined together to form a pouch sized and shaped to hold an amount of an active composition. The active composition delivery system further includes a plurality of water-soluble joints, joining the top and bottom water-soluble layers.
Abstract: The present invention relates to formulations for a concentrated fabric softener, in the form of water-soluble sheets, which can conveniently be used alongside detergent in home laundry washing machines. The formulations comprise combinations of anionic surfactants with cationic and/or anionic polymers which together cooperate to provide a softening effect on textiles. This product format allows for a concentrated product that is comprised in a high proportion of active ingredients, and therefore occupies a much smaller volume and mass for the amount of active ingredient and softening power provided. The performance of the invention is equivalent or superior to comparable dosages of standard liquid 2-in-1 detergent/fabric softener combinations.

Abstract: A dissolvable sheet having a water-soluble substrate, and one or more cleaning actives disposed uniformly throughout the water-soluble substrate. The water-soluble substrate is formed from a first substrate builder comprising polyvinyl alcohol, a second substrate builder, such as starch, and sodium laurylglucosides hydroxypropylsulfonate, and is sized and shaped to form a sheet, and hold a premeasured amount of the cleaning active. The substrate dissolves when contacted with a sufficient amount of water, thereby releasing the cleaning active into the water, which also dissolves in the water. A method of making the dissolvable sheet is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for making a laundry detergent sheet. Preferably, the laundry detergent sheet is capable of dissolving in a laundry cycle of an automatic washing machine. The method comprises the steps of preparing a first shelf-stable solution, preparing a second non-shelf-stable solution comprising a portion of the first shelf-stable solution, applying the second non-shelf-stable solution onto a surface, and drying the second non-shelf-stable solution on the surface.

Abstract: A flexible laundry sheet made of a mixture of at least a thickening agent, detergent, water and polyvinyl alcohol. The thickening agent is comprised of polymers such as starch, modified starch, or cellulose that, when dried, produce a material that remains solid and flexible when dry, yet dissolves completely in water. The constituents, once mixed in the proper proportion, produce a liquid that is poured onto a drying plate, and after drying results in a flexible, dry, laundry sheet which may be added to laundry. Once in contact with water the laundry sheet dissolves and releases its active ingredients, which may include detergents, surfactants, water softeners, chelating agents, dyes, fragrances, clothes softeners and bleaching agents.
