  • Patent number: 4789232
Abstract: A break-away mounting for vehicle-mounted mirrors includes a mounting member for securing to the side exterior of a vehicle, with a portion projecting outwardly from the vehicle. A mirror support receives a mirror and has a pivot boss where the mirror support can be pivotally mounted to the portion of the mounting member. A follower guide is secured to either the portion or pivot boss and a follower is mounted in the guide. Cam surfaces are provided on the other of the portion and boss, and a resilient spring urges the follower against the cam surface. The cam surface defines firstly a detent or recess for receiving the cam follower when the mirror support is in its normal operating position, and further defines sloping cam surfaces to either side of the recess which are such that when the mirror support is deflected forwardly or rearwardly it automatically returns to its normal position.

  • Patent number: 4723095
Abstract: A system of daylight running lights utilizing the front turn signal lights of a vehicle incorporates a solenoid coil and a double pole single throw switch, such that when the coil is activated, both poles are closed. A connection from the ignition circuit to the coil is such that when the ignition circuit is at "run", power is available to said coil. The circuit is such as to prevent the coil from being grounded, thus de-activating the coil, whenever the turn signal switch is on, or whenever the headlight switch is on. When either of these conditions applies, the DPST switch is open. The coil is grounded and thus activated whenever the turn signal switch and the headlight switch are both off. The circuit is such that power can be fed through the DPST switch, when closed, to energize both signal lights simultaneously, thus providing daytime running lights.

  • Patent number: 4633375
Abstract: A flashing lamp for vehicles incorporates a base with an upstanding integral boss defining a worm gear. The base and the boss are of plastic or equivalent material. A frame is rotatable about the axis of the worm gear, the frame supporting at least one lamp. A motor is supported from the frame and directly rotates a worm which engages the worm gear. Brush and ring elements are provided to transmit electrical energy through the stationary base to the rotating frame and its electrical components.
